INSIDE the tank. dont bother trying to replace it. When the fuel pump goes bad, then replace the whole module.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2004 Chevy Express van

Hello Shawn,

Check your left hand frame rail.

On 2005 gasoline engines the fuel filter is integral with the fuel pump/sender assembly in the fuel tank.

The fuel filter is normally located along the frame rail of the vehicle. On some vehicles however, it may have been relocated to the engine compartment. When in doubt, trace a fuel line from the engine backward or from the tank forward in order to locate the filter.
Some vehicles utilize a spin-on fuel filter located on the frame rail. This filter can be turned counterclockwise after the fuel pressure is relieved.

Where is fuel pump located on a 1985 chevy cavalier?

The pump is electric, and it is inside the gas tank. You have to drop and remove the tank to change the pump.
The filter is a small metal cylinder, about fist size, and will be in the fuel line under one side or another of the car, unless it is in the engine bay, just before the fuel line reaches the engine. I expect it would however be underneath, along a frame rail. Just follow the fuel line from the tank. Both ends of the filter are threaded. Use 2 wrenches, one as a back-up while you loosen the fuel line fitting. Be careful of damaging the end of the fuel line-that is why you want 2 wrenches.

Where is fuel filter located and where do you check fuel pressure

The filter is between the fuel tank and engine, usually under either side of the floorboards. Follow the fuel line from the tank out until you find it, it's a little smaller than a soda can, grey metal, can't miss it.
. You check fuel pressure at the engine, on the fuel rail. Look for a steel line that comes up from the firewall behind the engine, that goes across the engine. What you are looking for is a metal cap that looks exactly like a steel version of your tire valve cap.
There is a gauge you buy that threads onto the rail, once you remove the cap. Once threaded on, start the car, and it will indicate your fuel pressure. Good luck.

and see filter. under fuel systems.
quote:
The fuel filters on injected engines are a metal cylinder which is located in the engine compartment. You may find it under the injection manifold on some models. Each model varies.

what i do, , i look at the fuel regulator on the engine fuel rail. Set it?
see that vacuum line?
then see the rail and the other line (large line, not vacuum)
there are 2 hard lines, the reg line is RETURN
the other end of RAIL is tank pump line, this goes to a filter,
fuel flows from tank to rail to reg then back to tank.
the tank line is the filtered line.

other cars....
the only filters are in the fuel tank and some 10 micron screens in the injectors.
i never worry all this , i just look and find it...
or if really worried, out comes the FSM. its in there, i promise.

my book shows a funny fuel filter near the firewall.

I have a 1985 ford f150 with a 351 enjine and a 4 barrel carb and i dont know where the feul filter is located. Can anyone tell me where to find it?

If you don't see it in the engine bay, trace the fuel line from the tank along the frame rail up to the engine. Sometimes the filter is placed just off the fuel tank , but in the line along the frame rail.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1994 Saturn SL Dohc

there is one in the inlet of the pump, inside the gas tank. there is another one in the fuel line and if you look in the engine bay just forward of where the driver's footwell is you will see the fuel line coming out from under the car. The filter has fuel line so you are replacing the last 20 inches or so of the fuel line. find the part on autozone or advance website and then look under your hood. kind of tough to get at as i recall. jack stands or a lift could come in handy.

Change fuel filter on a 2006 Saturn Vue. V4.

How to Replace a Fuel Filter
DIY & Save up to $123.86 (Complexity: Moderate / Time: 1.4 hours)

Parts:
1. Fuel Filter - $115.14

Tools:
1. 3/8 in. Drive Ratchet - $7.55
2. Hose Pincher - $5.84
3. Flare Nut Wrench - $5.53
4. Flat Head Screwdriver - $3.14
5. Socket Set

Steps:
Step 1
Open the hood and locate the fuel filter. If the fuel filter is not in the engine compartment, follow the fuel line from the tank until the fuel filter is located.
- Tip: Safety Tip:Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or safety shoes.

Step 2
If the fuel filter has a clear case, inspect the filter element for dirt.

Step 3
If the fuel filter case is not see-through, remove it from the fuel line. Drain the fuel from the filter into a container and inspect the condition of the fuel.
- Tip: Caution: Before removing fuel lines or fuel related parts, make sure that the fuel pressure is relieved from the vehicle fuel system. To relieve the pressure in fuel injected systems, remove the fuel pump fuse and run the engine.

Step 4
Install the new fuel filter making sure that the flow is in the correct direction. The arrow on the fuel filter is the direction of flow from the tank to the engine.

Step 5
Secure the lines back onto the fuel filter. If applicable, reinstall the fuel pump fuse.

Step 6
Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

Step 7
Test drive the vehicle to check for a rough running engine, hesitation, or lack of power.

Hope thats help (remember rated this help). Good luck.

Where is fuel filter located in a kia sportage 2006

The fuel filter is bolted to the frame rail below right of the battery. It is cylinder shaped and has a fuel line at each end.
Procedure for removing it:
Find the fuel tank access plate under the rear seat. With the engine idling disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness and let the engine stall. This relieves the fuel pressure.
The lines on the fuel filter itself are "quick connect" fittings. Depress the tabs on the fuel line and push TOWARDS the filter. The line should pop off. It's difficult to depress the tabs and you CAN use a pair of pliers but be careful or you'll damage the fitting.
Reverse to install new filter. Reconnect fuel pump, start the engine, and check for leaks.
