How much should it cost me to have the left front axle seal replaced?

The premium replacement part for this is about $22.00. I would expect labor to be around 3 hours estimated in their magic book of hours. You can expect this to cost somewhere around 300.00 to 350.00. If you are handy at all and have tools you can do this for a few swear words and about 3 to 4 hours for about 100.00. I say 100.00 because there will be minor things that come up besides the part itself.

When driving getting a loud clicking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel?

Is this only when turning and accelerating? If so it si your CV axle shaft on that side. Very common in FWD cars. The clicking is the shaft not being lubricated due to the boot that holds the grease (where the axle flexes for turning) being worn/torn and needs to be replace otherwise after extended driving will cause the shaft to break loose leaving the car disabled. Sometimes when the axle breaks it snaps back and damages the trans pan so its very important to have it replaced. The axle cost about $60-$100 and labor should be about 45min-1hr for any certified shop to replace. Sometimes you can get it replaced for $150-$250 total depending on what shop you go to, shop around....

Mechanic says i need new front axles......

Usually once the boot is torn, dirt goes in, and all of the lubricant goes out. If you have been driving it this way, it will damage things faster. Normally you hear a "click" when turning out of a bad cv joint. It is a safer solution to just replace both, but of coarse, not cheaper.
