.If you have no engine light on then i would check your fuel pressure first. Sounds like you may have a weak fuel pump.If the fuel pressure is not within the specs then replace the fuel filter first. If there is no change in pressure replace the fuel pump.

My gas gage does not work. After I fill up with gas...withing 20-30 minutes it goes all the way down to empty. Should this be fixed or would it be too expensive to fix. The car is a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am...

Either your gauge is bad or the fuel level sender is. Most likely it's the sender in the gas tank. To replace it you would have to drain the fuel tank and pull the fuel pump/sender assembly and replace. You cannot just replace the fuel level sender with this car, the entire assembly must be changed out.

Where is fuel pump located. can it be repaired at

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.As for the cost it depends on what the labor rate is at the shop you take it to.Just cal a few of them up and ask what they charge for replacing the fuel pump and what kind of warranty they offer.Get it in writing.Hope this helps.Good luck.
