Raditor fan wont come on

Either your fan is defective or your fan relay is defective. To check the fan, use a length of wire & connect it to the positive side of the fan wire, not the black one & then to the positive red battery terminal. This action should start the fan. If it doesn't start change the fan relay. Good luck!

First of all, you have to check the status of the fan. Wire it directly to the battery and if it comes on than the problem is with a bad connection or the temperature sending unit. This controls when the fan comes on and goes off

Electric fan


It sounds like a tcs temp controll or fan sensor ,, depending on the car it should be mounted on the bottom of the raditor with a long black plug connected to it

there is a temp switch that turns on and off electric fan at raditor fan scroud make sure wires r on and have a good conection

Car is overheating


First make sure the cooling system is full. This might require letting it cool and filling it more than once though the main raditor cap. Then it needs looked over for leaks. If it won;t stay full it'll overheat. The hose from the recovery tank to the raditor connection at the cap is a problem spot and it the raditor can't **** the coolant from the tank back into the raditor the engine will soon get low. If these things are alright then you neeed to watch it heat up, and see what's happening. The engine should worm up and as it does the upper raditor hose will warm and but hot but not right away. The side of the raditor should start to warm up soon after that, Touching the raditor it should warm up evenly from top to bottom if it doesn;t it's clogged. If the hose and engine get hot and the pressure inside the hoses rise but the raditor says cool then the therostate is sticking and needs to be changed. If the whole radidor gets hot till everythings too hot and the fan does'nt come on then you need to test the fan and it's fuses and connections. The cooling fan will be comanded on if you unplug the coolant temperture senser that's pluged into the side of the therosate hoseing as it's where the upper hose connects to the engine. If the fan seems to be coming on and hot air is coming off the back of the fan and it's still getting too hot and you've decided that the whole radidor is getting evenly hot then the engine may have an issue. Exhaust clogged up ( cat canvertor, muffer bent pipes) The check engine light might be on and the reasons it's on need to be examinded.

Runs hot and over heats


Check Fans, turn on a/c and see if the fan or fans come on while vehicle is running. If they come on then that is not your problem. Check temperature with infrared thermometer at thermostat housing and at lower radiator hose. If both readings are near the same temp possible Thermostat problem. Do a block test or compression test to make sure a blown head gasket does not exist or cracked cylinder head or engine block. The the hoses have pressure squeeze them should be firm at operating temperature. Is your coolant full. Does it boil back out of the reservoir if so possible thermostat or head gasket problem. If the coolant was changed recently system may need bled. May have partially plugged Radiator. Flush maybe.

try the fan tempature sending unit. it tells the fan to come on at certain tempature if it went bad it wont tell the fan to come on

If water pump leaking replace both, if not and truck is over heating start with thermostat.

I have a Kia Sephia 01. I had my engine over heat and warp almost everything. i've tried replacing the thermostat housing three times but everytime i refill the coolant and it runs through the housing it...


Likely you are overtightening the housing. If you have paper gasket type, try using a double gasket. If "o" ring type, just use the gasket. When tightening the housing take up small amounts on both sides, alternating from one to the other. Tighten till it is firmly mounted but stop there. After filling system, check for leakage. if seepage is noted, take up on bolts one quarter turn or less till drip stops.always alternating from side to side. Unless you have the wrong thermostat in there this pretty much has to work.

I have a 2003 PT cruiser having trouble overheating when i unplug the heat sensor the cooling fan goes on , when plug it in it shuts off

Won't start after 1 hr off and starts if left alone for 2 hrs


i would check the fuel pump and scan the computer when it fails to start ? moving the car sometimes causes the pump to run if its intermittant like yours ? one thing you can try to test this theroy is to when it wont start have someone try to start it while you tap on the gas tank lightly with a wooden malet if it starts then you know its the intank fuel pump ? if not igntion is your next test pull off the spark plug wire at the spark plug and stick a used plug onto it and let it ground on the engine have someone turn it over and watch for spark? repost if this dosnt help i can assist you with relay checks etc>
