Hi normally 49,000 miles is not allot , its about 60,000 that you do this, but if it is dark and dirty it sounds like it does need a drain and new oil, when you drain it, have a magnet handy and hold it under the oil as it drains and see if there are shards of metal if it is very dirty you may be having internal problems.....hope this helps

I would recommend a *service* over a flush any time. A service will have a tech see the inside of the pan. He/she will replace your filter, clean pickup/screens and capture magnet. By proxy of opening the pan, you'll have a fresh fluid top off and new pan gaskets. Automatic flushing machines MISS these simple things that a service will catch and add life to your gearbox. If the transmission is not slipping or bumping already, chances are you caught things before they need more complex work and/or repairs.

Jaguar xk8 transmission problem that jerks when changing gears

if the transmission jerks this is s ign that the either the fluid is dirty which is causing the valves to stick in between changes...the module is trying to control the shifts as you drive and keep the shift adaptations...please get the transmission fluid flushed immediately! but preferably get the ****** serviced..it should be done every 25-30k miles...the flush should run 300.00 give ot take..

MY PONTIAC MONTANA HAS DARK BROWN TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT HAS 130,000 MILES, AND HAS NEVER BEEN FLUSHED. IS THIS NORMAL? IT RUNS AND DRIVES FINE, AND I PLAN ON HAVING IT FLUSHED THIS WEEK.

If your going to have it flushed make sure they do it properly. Have the filter changed and get them to do a full flush. It will cost a bit more but is worth it, because they remove all the fluid out of the torque converter.
If your fluid is brown then yes it is probably past its use by date. Most trans fluid is red.

I changed my toyota sienna transmission fluid but after it runs for 10 miles the color is dark again and i changed it again same thing the color of fluid became dark again . what was the problem of...

you only get about half of the fluid when u change-the rest of the old stays in the torque converter--since its so dirty u cud doit again until it clears--do not flush it with a machine-it will disable it cause dirt will get into the valve body and become stuck

Need to service trans on my 05 lancer can you flush trans

On automatic transmission that has over 100,000 miles, you should not flash it. DO NOT got to a shop that use re-circulate machine to flush out the transmission.

Base on the 2005 production year, you should have only 60,000 on the transmission.

The correct method is to purchase the transmission filter, pan gasket kit + transmission fluid and a trans line cleaning fluid.

Get the complete kit from your auto parts supply store and do the drain, cooler flush and filter change.

Recycle your old transmission fluid at your part store or recycling center.

Want to know if you recommend a transmission flush for my car? It has over 140,000 miles. What sevices do you recommend?

Yes a tranny flush would be great. I would recommend Either Going out and purchasing a new tranny filter, gasket and Transmission fluid from your local Auto parts store and doing it yourself, CHEAPEST. Or going to your local Valvoline to have it flushed. Cost is around $100

Transmission oil for toyota camry 1993

1993 Camrys take regular Dexron ATF. It should be changed every 30,000 miles. If you have never changed it, and it is over 100,000 miles, I would strongly suggest a professional "transmission-flush", with a designed specifically for flushing transmissions. To just drain the fluid at this point will leave roughly 3 quarts of dirty ATF in the system; a complete flush will eliminate ny dirty ATF traces.

Chevrolet Malibu 2001 Transmission Flush or not

75,000 miles isnt alot of miles, unless they were mostly city miles. If you aren't experiencing any transmission problems,i would drop the pan, change the filter and whatever fluid the pan holds, and hold off on flushing the entire sytem. The clutches and bands sometimes don't do well when shocked with ALL new fluid that contains a certain amount of detergent. The only real problems i have seen with the total flush is on Dodge trucks of the 90's up to even 2000 and some later models, the transmissions use a governor pressure sensor, and solenoid, and i have seen many of them set codes after the flush, and the components having to be replaced with new.Black fluid isn't a good indicator.Brown fluid,is better than black. And red fluid is the best.
