How do I replace my fuel lines on a 1993 gmc

I just noticed fuel dripping from under the truck, when I started it this morning. I noticed the drip is coming from the line by the firewall. Is this something I can fix / Or should I bring it to a shop?

You can fix this your self, you can ether replace the leaky fuel line when you find which one, or you can do a patch job by cutting the part that has gone bad and placing a rubber fuel injected fuel line. NOTE; Fuel Injected Fuel line and no longer then 3 niches.
Here is a link for you if your going to replace the fuel line, I replaced my fuel line with the nylon lines for my Jimmy. Now there good for life LOL.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe. OH when using the clamp for the fuel line, make sure you use compression clamps, not hose clamps.

You can fix it, but obvoiusly be careful with gas, such as letting it drip on a hot drop light, using a torch, etc.

You should be able to feel the drip back to its source, which is probably a fitting that needs to be taken apart and retightened.
If it is one of those snap together fittings, sometimes they leak if there is too much pressure to the side because they are not aligned well.

Any lines that are defective must be made from scratch from straight tubing and plastic lines must be fabricated from a kit, both take special tools and skill so a dealer is the best bet here.

Getting spark fuel but won t start

If it is a fuel line you would smell and see gas drip where you park most likely, unless it is up over frame and drying prior to hitting the ground which is possible. Smell gas while parked? Get up under it and look for wet spots on fuel line. Are you getting fuel through line? Pull from under hood and check pressure.

Water drips onto carpet on passengers side front foot area. Can be seen dripping from plastic air ducting above foot area. how to figure out how its getting in. Have replaced windshield.

You can only have 2 issues dripping water onto the passenger floor board. First being a clogged drip line for the ac evaporator. The other is a leaking heater core. Figuring out which one is the issue is fairly easy.

If your vehicle has anti freeze in it when you turn the defrosters on it will smell sweet. If it does you have a leaking heater core. If it does not then the drip line is clogged.

To clear the drip line get under the vehicle and snake the drip line on the firewall. It usually is a 90 degree rubber or plastic piece on the passenger side about a third of the way up the firewall. A leaking heater core means it has to be replaced and not really a job for someone that is not exsperienced.

K1998 gmc jimmy 4 wheel drive truck cranks but wontstart.is getting fire, when it did run it smelled like gas strong

GMC Jimmy's have a record of corroded fuel lines at the fuel pump in the fuel tank. Cycle your key from "Off" to "Run" a couple times then look under the vehicle in the fuel tank area to see if there is gas dripping.

When you shut off the motor, see if fuel is dripping from the injectors. It sounds like one might be leaking.

Smell gas in car

Look for fuel leaks in the engine bay or back by the tank where you fill up the the tank. A little bit of gas will go a long way so if you had spilled a little while removing the nozel at the gas station the filler neck will disperse of it, sometimes it gathers on the inside of the fender, and causing for a smell that may not be an issue. On the other hand if you notice the smell under the hood you may have a leaking fuel line, check to see if anyone has replaced the fuel filter recently sometimes the technician does not tighten the lines securely causing a little fuel leak. other times its just a little fuel spray from not releasing the pressure before removing the filter may have sprayed the fuel on the car onto maybe the insulation. One thing to do is look under the car while it is running myabe after filling it up to check for leaks. If your notice a drip while the A/C is running dont be alarmed as this is the condensation dripping off as it is supposed to.

I have a 93 chevy s-10 blazer with a 4.3 vortec and it acts like its stuck in flood mode. i replaced the fuel pressure regulator and its still flooding . i think it might be the spider, but there expensive...

When you replaced the pressure regulator under the upper plenum did you notice any fuel puddling in the lower intake? I have had numerous occasions when the plastic fuel lines inside the plenum that attach to the spider were cracked. You can pressureize the fuel system with the upper plenum off and look for leaks also lift all the nozzles out of the holes and watch to see if they are dripping this a very common problem.

Wont start when cold

There have been bad fuel pump regulators where they will leak fuel into the vacuum line that's attacthed to it. Pull off the vacuum line and see if gas drips out of it(replace the regulator if gas is present).
The regulator is on the fuel rail.

Will not start

potential water in line. Red, plastic bottle of Gas treatment first. STP gas treatment highly rec. Definitely make sure you do not have any more gas leaks since the system relies on pressure. Any loss in pressure results in loss of fuel to injectors/carb. Start with the gas treatment first... go from there. Sounds retarded but believe me, this has helped countless people... including myself multiple times.

Afterwards, you will need to think on terms of electrical ignition problems:

HV coil

HV coil wire

clogged filter or reversed direction filter [recheck even though it is new]
