Question about 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

Hello, does anyone know how to change the timming belt in this car. I bought this car on Oklahoma and the manual says that cars sold at Florida and California the timiing belt should be change every 60,000 miles. Howver the dealers advertise that all cars in the US that have 60,000 should change their timing belts.

It involves removing the accessories at the front of the engine, quite often a motormount, belts harmonic damper, inner fender cover, etc, you will need assorted tools, wrenches, long and short sockets, and patience, get a detailed manual, and good luck

MY 1997 TOYOTA RAV4 HAS ENGINE LIGHT ON, IT IS ACTUALLY USED I BOUGHT IT TODAY WITH ALMOST 181,800KM CAN IT COME ON IF TIMMING BELT HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED OR IF THIER IS SOME LEAK IN GAS TANK OR SOMETHING

The check engine lightwill turn on when the engine and/or transmission control module finds a concern. The sellers may have had the light turned off just before they sold this vehicle, knowing there was a problem. No, it doesn't monitor timing belts, or leaks in the engine, but will turn on if there is an evap leak in the purge system. Autozone usually scans check engine lights for free.

Hi Looking to get the timing belt changed on my 2002 Passat GLX 4Motion. I have 145000 miles on the car. But after speaking with the mechanic its going to cost me over $1200. Not somthing I have available...

Jen... I have a 2002 Passat 2.8 V6 4Motion with 125,000 I just changed the Timming Belt, Water Pump, tensioners and thermostat. One dealer was charging me 1500 dollars and the other just 1000... I bought the parts myself thru www.germanautoparts.com and found a mechanic with experience, and he charged me 420 dolares. In total I paid something around 650 for the repair. In the end, my timming belt could last me more than 20 thousand miles more... but either way is a risk. If the belt brakes the repair will go for 4000 dollars to fix the engine. I'm in NE.

How to change the timming belt on a 1995 mazda 929

A question such as yours takes far too long to write out. Your best option is to obtain a decent manual that will give you step by step instructions as well as the exact positions of crank, cam and other pulleys required to make your engine run without self-destructing on start up. One such manual is haynes which is sold by many parts stores for around $20. (and, it will help you with many other problems in the future!!)
Of course, if you have any specific technical questions along the way, feel free to ask here!!

Starting the car

If it is a 4cyl, check the timming belt. I dont know how many miles are on yours. If over 100k miles, id purchase a timming belt and open her up and check it out. A jumped belt will make a engine rotate with a drag due to compression and valve timming. Good luck...98contourSVT
