You have to remove steering wheel then turnsignal switch to access retainer screw for lock cylinder. remove screw and cylinder will pull out.

I just did that last week. Remove horn, remove steering wheel, remove blinker switches, remove tilt spring, remove tilt mechanism, remove key buzzer switch (mine was white with 2 small wires leading to it). Only thing you can do is disconnect the battery, and unplug the alternator. Then you will need to replace your ignition tumbler.

Need to change ignition out how bad is it to do it

I am assuming you are needing to change out the key lock? It's a little work and you need the tools. It's not bad ifyou have the tools but probably impossible without them.

Ignition switch won't turn and car won't go into gear 1995 Chevy Lumina

Make sure you don't have the steering wheel locked. If the key still won't turn then you will have to replace the ignition lock cylinder. The gear shifter on any car should not move unless key is turned.

99 chevy lumina wont crank!

you probably have a broken wire in the ignition that reads the resistance in the chip in the key. there are two wires that attach the ignition switch to the security system.I had the same problem and it can be easily fixed by putting a resister in place of the chip in the key.any garage that puts alarm systems in cars will be able to do this very easily and very economically.
