Drive s40 1.6 2000, replaced camshaft censor, engin manangemnt ligth goes on and varieble idling for a while , heavy on fuel

It does not have a Cam sensor. I would check for vacuum leaks around the area where the intake manifold bolts to the head. Very common for them to leak.

What is the RPM at and how long does it stay there. How long has it been doing this? Is the check engine light on?

You didn't mention if you changed the plug wires.

You mentioned replacing the camshaft sensor. Have you checked the Crankshaft Position Sensor? Or the Mass Air Flow Sensor (may need cleaning)? Or the Throttle Position Sensor?

try having the fault codes read first then fixing the faulty sensor
indicates a fuel pressure or injector problem

it could be an 02 censor.. fuel filter.. camshaft sensor.. it's really hard to tell..you can take it to autozone and they can check it for you for free. please rate my answer if it was useful thank you

Seems like the knock censor

Have you figured out the problem??? My suburban is still doing the same thing after I replaced the same parts, plus more! I'm about to replace the fuel pump. Here goes nothing...

Have you tried the throttle position censor, these censors have been known to go out,

Have you changed the spark plug wires? This is the most common cause of a misfire. After changing the wires, I would then have the Timing checked and a new timing belt installed. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may have a Crankshaft Position Sensor or Camshaft Position Sensor failing. If this doesn't fix the problem, have your fuel pressure tested.

I think your sensors are pattern parts and the readings /resistances are not the same as the original parts ,try some bosch units is my first suggestion ,

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.
