I cannot inspect my car because it reads is not ready yet. I used a actron code reader and I had one code that turn out to be the ox sensor by cat. I changed it. When I went back to autozone to get codes again it read none. I went to inspect and still not ready yet. Cannot inspect did not pass emission do I have to do a drive cycle to get computer to read ready? where can I get it.

Basically take the car for a long drive .
Stop off get gas , drive to a shopping center( need a few on/ off starts). Few hard braking , few not so hard braking. reverse when possible . Gotta figure about 30- 50 miles of driving.

it costs nothing to have the codes read at auto parts stores. If you want not to waste money then read the fault codes first

Cen tech code reader problems 98568

All OBD Codes are on the internet with
print,charts,video,solutions

You Type your codes & read up

Study OBD 2 Systems also

OBD PO171
OBD PO174

I had to Google Cen Tech as i never heard of it

They appear to be inexpensive low end for sure

You won't get a lot of data out it

If your never planning on going to professional software,
consider the top scan/code reader type tools like Innova Professional or at least mid level Actron & a couple other brands

You really need to see sensors, emission monitors, so
your ready for inspection

You will only get Generic Codes from a code reader
not body functions likes abs,air conditioning, srs,& others

More data is better-- you will learn these systems as time goes by

They have been with us for 35 years now

OBD1 15 years
OBD2 20 years

Ox heater circuit bank 1 sensor 3 code po147

Normally you have one sensor in front of and behind the catalytic converter. And most Ford products have two cats. On your Ford you may have one in front on each bank and then one after the cat.
Number 3 would be after the cat converter.

My 2000 Toyo. Tacoma Prerunner TRD V6, truck Failed smog due to the part #3 Functional Computer Tests due to an erased MIL. But had passed the Visual Inspection, and Emissions. So i bought a Code reader...

there are 2 sensors in the system
one is a heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) in the exhaust manifold / pipe before the cat converter that reports the exhaust gas composition to the ECM so that fuel/ air ratios can be adjusted
if that one is faulty it is most likely the reason for running lean or rich
the second sensor is the oxygen sensor (O2) which is after the cat converter and reads the results of the cat converter cleaning the exhaust
you may have to replace both the sensors to get a clearance or replace the cat converter as well as the HO2S unit

I have a 1996 saturn wagon. it failed on omissions for egr. ox sensor and catalyst. I had a new egr.. o2 sensor.. oxygen sesor before catalyst.. drove car on many different drive cycles and over 4-600...

You need to read the codes that your check engine light is showing. Go to Autozone or any place like that and they can read the codes for free. Throwing parts at a car doesn't fix it but finding the source of the problem and then repairing as necessary will allow for better results. Going off the check engine light being on can mean it is anything.

You have two O2 sensors on your car. One just after the head on the header. This is the O2 sensor that tells the PCM what the air/fuel is and the PCM can adjust accordingly. The one BEHIND the catalytic converter (or cat for short) does nothing but tell the PCM that the cat. is working properly. You may be changing the wrong O2 sensor. Also the EGR could be an electrical problem if that is the cause of the emissions failure.

So to review, find out the codes, post back with the codes and everything can go from there.

Car will not start unless discontecting cam sensor

Could be a bad timing belt or cam sensor with the computer trying to compensate.

Is the check engine light on, are you able to check if the vehicle has any error codes?

Here is a list of ODBCII error codes for the Chrysler Sebring

So you don't have to take the car to a shop every time a great tool to have that can save you some money to read computer error codes and clear them after work has been done can be had for under $100 from Actron. This is what I have been using and its a life saver but it's also good to have the vehicles repair manual as well.

The computer on this car is OBDII like many other vehicles out there these days so you'll need a tool that can plug it in and read the outlet located above the shin of your right leg under the dashboard or steering wheel. Here is a link to a bunch of their products on amazon Actron and other OBDII Computer diagnostic code reader tools.

2004 Hyundia Tiburon failed emmission test - o2 sensor and cat sensor not ready. Told to complete drive cycle. What is drive cycle for this car?

you probably have a ox sensor that is failing. it will not set the monitor untill the sensor is replaced. really only way to find this out is to drive it with the scanner graphing the ox sensors.

sorry dealer only ,this information is not published ,go to dealer and lay the golden egg ----owing to complexity of the anti-theft systems and not allowing this information for general use to stop car theft ??well thats the excuse anyway .do you know a good solicitor who can sue them under the freedom of information act you have stateside .because in europe the problem is acute with no re -address.. .software encrypted so if you try to read it it just show anything with a general mechanics reader .are you preparing the golden egg ??ready for the dealer ??my advice if it runs ok leave well alone and throw you scan master or digisoft reader in the bin as it will not work on modern cars and the newer the car the less you can do with it.
