On a Kia optima 07 2.7 where are cylinders 3 and 5 located. What would cause them to misfire??

They are on the back side of the engine, by the firewall. 1,3,and 5. 5 being on the drivers side. Causes could be. spark plugs, plug wires, bad coil/s, and a blown head gasket. Pull a plug wire check for spark. If spark is there, then do a cylinder compression check.

Although is could be a fuel filter, it could also be a fouled spark plug, or a bad spark plug wire. Once you've ruled these things out, the problem could be the TPS (throttle position sensor). This controls your idling speed under all conditions. A faulty TPS will usually idle fine when the engine is cold but once warm, will tend to sputter and in some cases, stall.

I can not find the location of the spark plugs on my 2005 Kia Optima. It's a 4 cylinder.

They are located underneath the coils on top of the valve cover or valve covers if its a V6. You cant see them untill you remove the coils from the top of the valve cover. Look down in the hole and you will see the Spark Plug. Good luck.

How can i change my own spark plugs on my kia optima 2006

If it's a 4 cylinder then you have to remove the "coil pack" from the top of each spark plug. Should be a 10mm socket. then using a long reach spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs. Make sure to set the "gap" of the new ones before you install. Then re install the coil packs and secure them.

If it's a 6 Cylinder then remove the plug wires from the top of the plugs, then smae as above but you will probably use a spark lug socket and a short extension with the rachet, Once again be sure to "gap" the plugs before you install. best to do the plugs ONE AT A TIME, so that you don't mix up the wires.
