Check ALL the fusible links, especially the fusible links down at at the starter. You will know a bad fusible link wire when you find one because they will stretch like a rubber band.

let me know if you require any further assistance with replacing a fusible link.

Look for a blown fuse,or fusible links to be burned out, these fusible links will bolt onto the starter with the positive cable,I do not know what year it is,but if it is a newer model, there is a fuse on the rail,on passengers side, near the radiator,it will be a flat fuse with two mounting bolts on each side of it,150 amp,or 200 amp,or lower, disconnect the battery before replacing it.

We went to look at a Polaris 500, it's a 2000, and only has 536 miles on it. When we finally got it started the lady parked it in reverse and it won't shift back out of reverse? Any ideas? Help?

try to remove the positive cable from the battery and switch on all lights, headlights ,park lights, step on the brake pedals , switch on ignition but do not start it. this is just to drain all remain electricity. then after doing so, switch off all the above mention lights and ignition. install back the positive cable to the battery. step on brakes pedal and start your engine, now try to shift gears from reverse to N then to P .

How do I jump start a car

You have two options:
1. First you need another battery and a set of jump start cables.
2. Or you can buy a jump starter for about $40 and use that.

In either case, you connect the red cable to the + terminal of your car battery. Then you connect the black cable to a good ground, like the engine on a bolt or metal part of the engine.
Then try to start the car.

When you get it started, remove everything in the reverse order.
Hope this helps.

94 saturn will not start, new battery, completly dead

I would check the maxi fuses (big ones) in the underhood fuse box first. If you find one blown and replacement fixes the problem,be sure to get the alternator checked for proper operation,if the cables
were reversed the alt. often is "wounded".

1999 VW Bettle shuts off when put in reverse, and is iffy if it actually wants to start?

The problem with it not starting and what you described is most likely caused by the battery cables. You should replace the whole cable from each post on the battery all the way to where it connects to the engine. The part about it dieing in reverse could be related to the loss of ground connections on the computer.

Dead battery on a 2005 Lincoln towncar

You should be able to jump start it. Before connecting cables make sure the ignition is off on both vehicles also do not let the black and red jumper cable clamps touch . When connecting cables connect the red cable to the good batterys positive terminal first. Next connect the other end of the red cable to the positive post of the dead battery. Third connect the black cable to the good batteries negative terminal. Last connect the other end of the black cable to a good ground on the dead car, this can be a nut or bolt or part of the frame. Start the engine of the good car, rev the engine slightly then try to start the good car. Remove the cables in reverse order from installing them.

Need to change my fuel filter

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly located in the tank.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the two fitting nuts while holding the filter.
  5. Remove the filter mounting bolts and the filter from the clamp.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fitting nuts to 22-29 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm).
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Reversed jumper cables, blown fusible link?

Turn the key to run, truck in park, and jump the starter from the small wire to the large wire on the starter solinoid. If it starts, all is good and your fussible link is probably right. The fusable links are located in the engine compartment, under a cover on the firewall.

How to changing the battery cables

Should be fairly straightforward, first buy the new cables 2. remove the old cable one at a time from the battery 3. trace to the connection point at the other end of the cable 4. to install the new cable just reverse the procedure. Make sure you disconnect the battery before starting as you could hit something and cause a spark. shouldn't take you more than an hour to do both
