How to replace the AC vents on the dash of 1999 Dodge Durango

I need to replace the AC vents on the dash and I'm not sure how to do that. Do I need to remove the entire dashboard and if so, how do I do that?

I would bet, if you went to the back door of any dodge dealer, and asked a tech ,to answer that, they would help you for free. At least the answer to your question.

2001 dodge durango 4x2 with ac on, hot air blows out of driver side vents and cold air blows out of passenger side vents

There's a small motorized flap that's controlled by the heating and ac system that's gone bad. This part changes the air to flow from the ac or heating side depending on settings. I had a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same issue, the fix is relatively simple once you get to it, however you must completely remove the dash to get to the part. The part is about 15.00. When removing the Dash you MUST disable the air bags, if you do not you risk injury or death if they are accidentally deployed.

1999 durango vent control switch will not let AC blow threw vents only defrost

Usually this is a problem with the blend doors under the dash. You either have a vac leak, a dead motor, or a faulty door.
The control opens and closes the doors to direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with directing air thru the vents.
When a problem occurs, the default position is the defrost vents to make sure the windshield remains clear.
You can do an internet search for "repair durango blend door" for more info.

Need to replace a heater core in a 1999 dodge durango

Sorry to say there is no easy answer to this problem.

The entire dash must come out to do the job, and a good shop who has done this will still need several hours for the job.

It is prudent to use OEM pieces and replace both the heater and AC core so you don't have to do the job twice.

Ballpark cost to have a shop do it is is around $1100-1200 bucks.

Heating / air conditioning control stuck to front defrost vents

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. Find the vacuum line on the passenger side where it comes through the firewall and follow it to the engine. You system needs vacuum to operate and without it the default setting is on defrost for safety reasons.
