Question about 1985 Toyota Corolla 2 Door

2 Answers

I have a 1985 Toyota Celica. The body is pretty good, a bit of faded paint. It hasn't been driven for a few years as the engine is not working. Apparently it does turn the engine over. I have now lost the key and wondering whether to keep it and try and fix it or just dump it. It does have sentimental value. I was keeping for when my girls drive which is in a couple of years. Please give me advice on whether its worth it to fix it.

Well do an analysis on how much is it going to cost you
think if it really has any sentimental value
and go from there

i personally wouldn't give it to my daughter that car is going to be a money pit and just the fact that your girl is going to drive you don't want her to brake down anywhere

After sitting for years with a motor that was not running I would say the value is almost zero. A metal dealer might give you $50.00 or so they will deduct some if the gas tank is not removed. You could try advertising it though for $200.00 someone might have a motor they can install to make a school or go to work car. Otherwise I say the car is not worth it to buy a motor and have someone install it. Or even fix the motor.

1985 toyota pickup 22r engine horn does not work replaced fuse under hood replaced conductors in steering wheel still does not work

make sure the horn itself is grounded to the body... take off one of the screws that holds the horn to the body and sand down any paint or rust off of body and horn base so that a good ground connection can be made..

Leaking clutch master cylinder

replacing is easy, you could also buy recon kits and do it yourself. You will feel when it is getting dangerously low, the clutch will take a few pumps to work, good luck

How do I remove an 1985 toyota celica supra steering wheel?

remove the horn pad, it is held on by a few screws recessed at the back of the steering wheel spokes, then go to Kragen and buy a unniversal steering wheel puller, easy to use, it wioll pop the wheel right off.

Clutch pedal stays on floor when released

check the helper spring on the clutch pedal. You'll have to get down in the driver's footwell and using a flashlight look at the mechanism while you push the pedal down (and pull up). If the spring isn't missing or broken and everything looks okay, then change the clutch master cylinder. The piston in the cylinder is probably binding due to corrosion in the bore. I have an 1986 and had the same problem. Changing the clutch master cylinder fixed it.

Bad headlight switch or relay, or shorted wire. I would check the relay first.
