Hi,, ok firstly the daytime lights are controlled by a photo cell,, this cell is bad and needs to be replaced.. simply unjack it and replace it with a new one..

In the mean time.. Under the hood in the fuse panel ,, look at the diagram for the fuse box,, its located under the cover of the fuse panel.. remove the fuse for the day lights... This will shut the lights off until u have the photocell replaced...

If its your HEAD LIGHTS your speaking off,, then 1.) when you shut the car off remove the fuse for the head lamps ,, located in the fusebox under the hood. 2.) replace the light switch..

There are 2 lights switches that dim your lights. The one closest to the steering wheel, turn it upwards. I didn't realize this and finally figured it out by accident.

Tell us news.

There is a relay box under
the hood on the driver's side. The relay is probably bad. The other fuses are inside the kick panel. WHen you sit on the driver's
seat, in front of your left knee.

    Relay locations...

-Main DRL relay is on pass side just under the vent closest to the pass
door (I would guess you have to get it from under the dash?)

-DRL relay No.3 is in the passenger side right kick panel

-DRL relay No.4 is in the passenger side right kick panel

-DIM relay is in the engine compartment left (beside the air box in
front of the strut tower fuse/relay box)

    - H-LP relay is in the engine compartment left (on the driverside strut
    tower fuse/relay box).

Does your High Beam indicator light work?

Here can find other details and pics...http://rav4world.com/forums/viewtopic.ph...

    Good luck.

On my 2001 porsche boxster is the daytime running lights supposed to stay on or blink

They are supposed to stay on. Why would they blink? Are you referring to the turn signals? They're the only ones that should blink.

Daytime running light module location 2001 impala

The daytime running lamps in your 2001 Chevrolet Impala are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) Here is a description of how the system works:

The ambient light sensor is a light-sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the Body Control Module (BCM) in response to changes in the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal, the BCM turns ON either the DRL or the headlamp relay for auto headlamp operation. Any function or condition that turns ON the headlamps will cancel the DRL operation.
Thirty seconds after you start the ignition with the headlamp switch set in the OFF position, the DRL will perform one of two actions:

Illuminate the high beam headlights at a reduced intensity in daylight conditions
Illuminate the low beam headlights in low light conditions
The DRL/EXT lamps fuse in the top of the engine fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to both the DRL switch contacts and to the DRL relay coil. When the BCM energizes the DRL relay coil, current flows through the right high beam lamp, to the left hand high beam lamp, to the energized DRL relay switch contacts, to ground G101.
The high beam headlamps are now in series, and split the voltage so that the headlamps illuminate at halt intensity. The DRL operates when the ignition switch is in the RUN position, and the parking brake is not set or the transmission is not in park. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.

Service Vehicle Soon Light comes on and sometimes stays on in my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. Heater fan and rear defroster doesn't initially work and later works. It is a 2.4 Liter, 4 cylinder engine. Manual...

I think you have multiple issues - don't think they are all related.
Have the engine codes scanned and find out what is causing the check engine light to come on first.

The ding noise is getting your attention the daytime running light flashing is saying no daytime running light are working.
Check engine means no headlights.
Check fuses
check to see if the headlights are plugged in.
