MY 2001 Durango 4.7L idles too fast. Have checked for vacuum leak on hoses. Would this be a sensor problem? Have run a scanner . Had no DTC.

By "too fast", do you mean VERY fast? Does idle speed drop when you turn off the air conditioner? Generally, any sensor malfunction will trigger a code... but not always.

Check the cruise control cable - be sure it's not binding or otherwise pulling the throttle open.

99 durango 318ci. cranks but won't start. New fuel pump 3wks ago, 50psi. New cap and rotor yesterday. No codes

2 things come to mind....the pick up coil in the distributor (Autozone #CR150 and the crankshaft position sensor (Autozone #SU3027
If it turns out to be this, please don't take my word for it on the part numbers, but in any event you should be able to these items for less than $50 each.

Just cleaning a sensor will not help it, the first thing is to check for a bad injector, swap injectors with another cylinder and see if the misfire move, but first make sure the fuel preasure is good,
