Question about 2002 Buick Rendezvous

1 Answer

On a buick rendezvous with a 3.4 I need to reinstall the push rods after replacing the intake gasket my question is, where is the intake and where is the exhaust. There are 2 different size rods (discovered after removal). Thanks

Thanks for the answer, but I need to know which is which on the heads themselves, there was no evident color when they were removed. I know the difference in the rods themselves, I need to know which goes where. Or in other words I need to know where the valves are located on the heads.

Call any major autoparts store for the correct answer. There are updated torque specs for the gm 3.4 vs in order to deal with a common issue of leaking intake manifold gaskets. They should have the correct updated spec for you vehicle based on the specific Vin number

Were is the Exhaust valve at for the push rods

There is no "exhaust valves" for the push rods. If you are asking where the exhaust valves are, they are in the cylinder heads. You would have to disassemble the engine to the point of having the cylinder heads off the engine to replace the exhaust valves, but usually you would do a complete valve job on the heads if there were a problem of that nature.

Would removing the heads, without taking each rocking arm valve spring and push rod off, just lifting off the head, changing all lower and upper gaskets and a new upper intake manifold, than just put

No idea what the main vehicle problem is, or how
it was tested, to determine you need to make repairs

Why are you suggesting removing the cylinder heads
if your only changing failed intake gaskets?

Who is going to do this work? Usually if you have to ask,
it isn't the vehicle owner

Lay your pushrods in a row exactly like you removed them and work backwards to install them if you want each pushrod to set with its original lifter.

Considering buying a 2002 Rendezvous. Heard noises from rear end when going up/down driveway approach. Thought it may be the shocks. Told by mechanic that it is the rear 'knuckle'?

Not exactly great vehicles. The resale value doesn't hold up for trade in purposes. The engines still had issues with their intake gaskets. Yes it could still need shocks being more than 3 years old and would be a good idea if purchased. Let me know if you need any other information.

We replaced intake gaskets and now its making a loud knocking sound

Good day
which intake gasket need you replace upper or lower, did you remove the push rods if so did you put the right ones in the right place. intake push rod will be marked orange and are shorter, exhaust push rods are marked blue. it almost sounds like you might have put an exhaust into a intake.
hope this helps please let me know if this is not the case and we can go from there

Cheers
