Where is the crank sensor located in a 1997 CRV?

I think I read on WikiAnswers, "The CKP looks like a small gear with long teeth located inside the distributor housing. If the CKP fails, unfortunately you must replace the entire diestributor housing."

I might be having the same problem with this component, so any clarification would be nice.

it is located on the bellhousing of the transmission it gets its signal from the flywheel.look where the transmission bolts to the engine.

Hello oldiro: My name is Roger and I can help. From under the vehicle look up between the transmission and the side of the block. Mid motor above the pan rail there is a bolted in sensor. Check all fuses, then check the wiring of the two 02 sensors on either side of the cat. converter. If the fuses and wiring are fine, it is likely one of the oxygen sensors; one is about $50 and the other is $200 (parts only). Use only Honda recommended parts, not BOSCH.
