I have a 1995 ford 250 7.3l pickup. there is a part that looks like it pumps oil to the top of both exhaust mainfolds. this part is located directly in front of the fuel resevior that holds the fuel filter.

There are only a few things to check. I do not have a blueprint for this engine in front of me. There may be a pressure relief valve on the oil pump assembly and the spring is broken and allowing pressure to bypass.
Oil pump shaft- often there is a spring pin to secure the shaft to the gear driving it. If the pin is sheared the pump will not spin.
Clogged block, clogged cylinder heads, oil pump pickup fell off pump? Too much play in bearings. Cracked block.
Was this an engine Salvaged from the Obama Gas guzzler Program? Those engines were treated with an oil additive to seize them up. Parts from these motors are junk. Don't use the used oil pumps.
if its burning oil then you could have a pcv valve problem(plugged) and changing it could fix it.the other things are bad rings,bad valve guides or valve seals.it could also be a cracked head or a bad head gasket leak by the oil drain passages and combustion chamber drawing in oil and burning.the ticking noise is either to thin of oil(dirty) by not changing it frequently low oil level or worn engine components that will need repair.
Check for loose heat shields the cover the exhaust. I find this is the source of many rattles. They are made of sheet metal and if they are not clip or tightened down the low vibration frequency when the car is running at slow speed will cause them the hit the exhaust pipe/ front mainfold.
does your oil light come on because if your oil light comes on and the the car is cold there is no knocking but when the car warms up you hear the knocking its going to be your oil pump and the oil pump screen
raise safely support vechicle.oil pump is in front of the engine where your oil filter is.remove oil filter. then you have to remove 6 bolts .then remove oil pump.
They are located on the top of the oil pump. the oil pump is located on the front of the engine on the crank shaft. If your timing your engine do not forget to jump wires TE1 and E1 in your diagnosic box. this will give you the correct ignition timing.
