Depends on the gasket ,cork is about 20lbs and paper maybe a bit more ,i always use the 3/8 drive and then just tighten till it feels right ,tighten with one hand and then you will not be far wrong

On the bottom of the auto transmission there is a belly pan, this pan must be removed to drain the fluid out of the transmission and replace the internal fluid filter. So you will need a large drain pan to catch the fluid and a floor jack to raise the van and safety stands to support it while you remove the bolts that hold the pan on, there is no drain plug so this is a VERY messy job. Clean off the old gasket completely, use no sealer and use a high quality trans pan gasket, the dealer is best or you will have leakage problems, tighten the bolts to 12-14 pounds of torque with a torque wrench, this is very important.

2004 Honda Civic automatic transmission, will not shift, stays in first gear.

change the tranny fluid (hava a shop do it, you cannot do it yourself) and filter, and have them look for metal shavings in the drained fluid- this would signify a tranny going bad, or one that already has gone bad. the filter could simply be clogged, the fluid could be excessively dirty, or, worst case scenerio, the torque converter could be on its way out or completely shot. sometimes a torque converter that is about to go bad can be used for several more months after a fluid change, and sometimes the fluid change will not help the problem. it all depends on how far gone the torque converter is.

Should I change the transmission fluid in my Dodge 2005 grand Caravan that has 69,000 Kilometers

Unless you haul heavy loads or live in mountainous country 69,000 KM is to soon, if you do not meet the severe duty category I outlined above change the transmission fluid at 95,000 KM or 60,000 miles. If you meet the severe duty criteria then change the fluid and filter every 50,000 KM or 30,000 miles

How much trans fluid needed after filter change on 1997 dodge caravan

My 1997 Caravan manual states that the trans fluid capacity is 8.5 quarts. However, in the transmission oil change section, it says to drop the pan, drain the oil, replace the filter and add 4 quarts of new fluid. This tells me that the torque converter is not draining so you are in fact, only changing "half" of the transmission fluid.

I get codes p0700 and p0740 on a dodge grand

P 0700 = EATX (Electronic Automatic Transmission Communication) Controller DTC Present. = An automatic transmission input DTC has been set in the transmission controller.
P 0740 = Torque Converter Clutch. No RPM Drop at Lockup. = Relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed indicates no torque converter clutch engagement.

Yes the Fluid and Filter Change should take care of this. However, Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth Minivans have had alot of Transmission problems over the years. Make sure that whomever changes the Transmission Fluid that they use exactly what is specified. Also, do not let any Mechanic talk you into a Superflush of the Transmission. This procedure does not change the Filter.

Changing transmission fluid - waste of money or not?

90k kms is about 60k miles, so yes I would recommend a trans fluid flush and refill, not just a trans fluid and filter change. when you drop a trans pan to change the filter you are only replacing at most, one third of the trans fluid. the other two thirds stays in the torque convertor. chrysler is also now using ATF+4 synthetic trans fluid(recommended).

Transmission in 2000 dodge caravan does not change from second gear

Remove the bolts around the tranny pan, leaving the forward two or three in but loose. The seal is RTV so it will stay on until you break it loose. Once the pan is loose and the fluid is drained off a bit, remove the two or three remaining bolts and the pan. The filter snaps into place on the valve body. Pop the filter loose, more fluid will fall, and clean the pan and sealing surface. Reinstall the filter, use RTV sealer on the pan and reinstall. The only real danger to be aware of is the four quarts of fluid splashing uncontrollably on you as you break the pan loose. I hope this helps.

How to change transmission oil

You can have the fluid exchanged at a oil change store. That flush new fluid in transmission only. The proper way is to remove transmission pan to change the filter and to clean the magnet cake with metal shaving. (This can be a mess when you first release pan to drain the fluid) The next you need remove RTV from pan mating surface, then reseal it with RTV or a gasket. Then fill transmission with fluid
