It runs fine for a little while then stalls out, the gauges all go dead except the rpms. the check engine light comes on for a split sec and goes off. no bus also comes up on the odo. if you wait 15 to 30 mins and turn the key forward the fuel gauge will go up and it will start. like nothing is wrong, i need some help

Yeah but it starts right back up so it could not be a blown motor

Well i would say if the rpm gauge stay's up and the other's all go down that would be a blown motor.

Sitting in the driver's seat at the driver's left foot under the dash
there is a fuse box. There is a tail light fuse ( a 10 Amp fuse) and the
tail lamp relay is located in that fuse box as well. You may have to
remove that fuse box and flip it over to gain access to the relay. Check
the fuse if it is good the relay is good. The green with an orange
stripe wire at the fuse box brings power to the front park lights (even
though it is on the "tail light fuse". the green wire from the fuse
brings power to the license plate lights and tail lights.

CAn you describe the problem with a little more detail. Does it start and run for a while before it stalls. Does it start and then stall right away. Is there a pattern to the stalling, turning, going over bumps, coming to a stop, trying to accelerate?

what engine do you have?

is the check engine light on?

Possible PCM/ECM problem

Unfortunately that's not the case. Your battery was obviously strong enough to start the truck , and once started, the charging system increases system voltage to its operating range of 12.5v - 13.8v. Your battery may have only failed its AMP capacity and needed to be changed for that reason only. What is most common on your vehicle is when the battery goes dead or has been removed ,the ECM loses its learned memory and starts fresh again when the battery is hooked up again. Your start and stall, and / or stall in reverse is a result of the "minimum air rate adjustment" needing readjustment to compensate for age and wear. The dealer changed your battery but also did the "min. air rate" at the same time because if they didn't , you would still have your initial complaint of stalling in reverse.

99 durango, stalled out when I was driving down the road waited 10 minutes when it started again, drove it 100 yards and died again. Now it turns over but wont start, got juice coming from the coil but...

On the fuel rail there is a shrader valv, push it down while some one is cranking and see if you have any fuel, if not then I suspect that the fuel pump is dead.

Fuel pump

don't guess the fuel pump is $300.00, when it quits check the fuel pressure or listen for the whine of the pump in the tank, it is my opinion u most likely have a loss of spark problem, have autozone or kragen auto run a trouble code test, if nothing shows u may have a fuel problem. The test is free.

99 Dodge Durango Dies When Slowing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

i know this may sound stupid but if your battery is old or a little weak on this vehicle the idle air control solenoid will act speradicley hunting for were it should be and the vehicle will stall.replace battery
