The colors don't mean a thing here. who knows what there connected to for you did not state if it is a factory harness.
you will need to check each wire with an ohm meter to determine what they are connected to.probe each wire one at a time have each function one at a time as well. tape the wires with your findings and mark each wire what they are for. then you can wire your harness to your trailer

Don't tap into any wires,as moisture can then corrode wiring and you will have big problems later,check with companies that specialize in connector adapters that do the same thing you need to do,but with their set-up you can always just unplug their harness and revert back to the original set-up you had w/o splicing check with a auto parts store

2014 triton mn. How can I connect 7-pin trailer socket into existing wiring harness?

the simplest way to do this is to go to a tow bar installer shop and buy the harness ( around $25.00 aud)
it is a simple action of pulling a harness plug apart and inserting a piggy back plug in the connection
the wires for the trailer are properly installed and all you have to do is wire the plug connection according to the wiring diagram that came with the plug

My trailer brake lights on my 2001 suburban 2500 work when the truck is not running but when the truck is running they will not work. All other trailer lights work including the blinkers which is the same...

suggest downloading the trailer pin standard for whatever number of pins your trailer plug has and tracing the wiring from the colors . The standard will tell you what color goes to what light and what pin number it should be on . Also 5 pin and 7 pin are different . You can plug a 5 pin into a 7 pin but the wiring is different .

Also check the trailer socket is grounded at the car body properly. As this can cause lots of weird symptoms.

I am connecting a trailer towing harness to my Nissan 2004 Titan (2wd), to tow my boat and need to know what the color codes to the parking, stop, and reverse wires are.

if you go to the parts store they make them ready to plug in you will have to just unplug the tail lights and plug the wire harness inplace of it then itll plug back into the original spot.

No trailer right turn signal or brake light

Hey Boon,

The pinouts for a 7-way plug are as follows:
Seven wire Trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:

White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

In both cases 4 is battery and 7 is reverse, aux or not used.

Double check your wiring using these lists as a reference.

Trailer lights

7 pin standard codes: Blue Brakes, Black 12v power, white ground, red right turn, brown left turn, green marking lights, yellow accessory power. 4 pin standard codes: White ground, brown marking lights, yellow left turn, green right turn. These will only work if both were wired to the standard code.

Installing a 7-pin trailer towing recptical on a 1991 Ford F150.

I believe you can look up the manufacturer of the trailer plug kit and find the wiring diagram there. On alot of the trailer plug kits, they have pics and diagrams in the package. The 7 pin plug (truck side) is available with the pig tail set up that plugs directly into the wiring harness for the lights. Then all you would have to worry about is the 2 wires for the electric brakes.
