Water Pump appears to be "fused" to engine housing. Already removed the four bolts to remove pump, but it will not budge. What am I missing out on doing here?

The fan clutch is held on with the large nut that spins with the fan. You have to turn it counter clock wise to loosen it.The four bolts just hold the pulley on. Make sure the belt is still on to keep some tension on the pulley. You'll either have to get the wrench made to remove it, or give it one good shot downward on the passenger's side with a LONG punch or chisel. Then spin it off by hand. Please rate my assistance and thanks for using Fixya.

Clutch fan removal for 1999 C2500 pickup with V-8, 5.7 engine. Seems to be threaded onto water pump shaft.

get a fan clutch removal wrench from the auto parts, the thread is probably left handed also make sure you try turning it counter clock wise first,it will be tight so it will take a few trys.

I have 1993 Chevy van (G20) that has a leak. In efforts to locate the leak in need to simply remove my fan shroud, but it looks as if I need to remove my grille to do that. Is there an easier way to remove...

You have a clutch fan on the water pump. big nut that is about 1&1/4 ". You will have to get a wrech that fits it and hit the wrench with a hammer counter clock wise to remove it. some times these don't come off to easy. keep hitting. Once it is loose it will spin off. you will have to take it out at the same time as the shroud. four bolts hold the shroud on.

Get fan off water pump 92 thunderbird 5.0

It has left handed threads eg: counter clock wise. You can go to your local parts house to rent or buy the wrench.

Fac clutch doesn't comefree

I cant remember counter or clock wise but doesnt matter I believe it comes off counter clock. The easy way is if you have a air compressor and a air hammer. Take the flat bit place on large nut lightly hit the nut until it breaks free. If not take the largest wrench that fits good and safely tap it hard with a hammer , fast hard blow will break it loose. hope this helps

How do i determine whether the fan clutch is left or right handed threads? Also do you have any suggestions how to loosen the nut? The water pump pulley wants to turn. Thanks

It's counter clock wise. Getting it lose will be hard but it can be done. What I do is clamp vise grips on the pulley then unbolt fan.

The big nut spins counter clock wise. you have to put your pulley bolts back on and make sure they are tight. leave belt on so that you have more resistance to pull against when tring to loosen the nut put a bar inbetween the pulley bolts so it won't slip off and then loosen that big nut looking thing and you should have it from there. to the same thing in reverse order to install it
