Question about 2002 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

Squeeling sound while driving and especially when brakes are applied even though my brakes are new on my 2002 Sunfire . They assure me it is not a mechanical concern but it is annoying. Weather seems to have no affect on it either.

Check to see if the tabs on the pads arent bent, try sandong the pas with emery cloth to remove the glaze and reinstalling them with a sound coating between the pad and caliper, available at a parts store, either as a spray or tube, and lube the caliper slides with silocon grease

Clicking noise when applying the brakes on a 2002 cadillac seville

If there isn't a high pitch squeel when applying breaks, then your pads/shoes are worn down to the rivits. If in the rear, could be defective hardware in the brake drum/brake assembly.

Is it a squeel or a hum / rumble? 1st run your hands around the tyres especially the inside. Check for hi and low spots on the tyres. If the tyre is hi low hi low hi low it makes a shocking sound. if it is a squeel noise have they checked your brakes cause brakes have squeelers to let you know they need changeing

Hyundai accent 2005 when starting up the vechile and driving there is a constant ugly sound coming from the front passenger side wheel and when applying the brakes on there is a high pitch squeel

That screeching sound is a warning that your brake pads are worn down to the point where they should be immediately replaced. If you do not replace the pads, you'll score the rotor and incur an additional expense. Remember to replace the brake pads on both sides, i.e., driver and passenger side.

When driving at slow speed especially, a very loud squeel comes from the front end of my 2003 youkon xl denali. the sound goes away when the brakes are applied.

Check the brake pads. There is a metal tab on the pads called an indicator. When the pads get low the indicators will start to rub and make an annoying screech to let you know it's time to replace the pads. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Squeeling noise in one of the wheels on a 2007 Dodge Durango.

If its a lite squeel and goes away when brakes are applied. Have you had front brakes put on recently. If you have and the rotors were not replaced and turned. Alot of mechanics don't do the final cross hatching on the rotors when they are done turning. This will barke in the pads wrong and cause this even with expensive pads. It will cause premature glazing and have a squeel that will drive you crazy.

Brakes

whenever you start hearing a squeeling sound when you apply the brakes, it could be anywhere from 10 000 to 50 000 miles, the squeeling is a warning system developed into the brake pads to let you know when you need to replace them, it is just a thin piece of metal that rubs alongside the pad when the pad gets thin

2006 chevy silverado 1500 front brakes are squeeking

on disc brakes there is a metal marker on them that when the pads get low on material it will make a squeeling noise to let you know its time to change the pads.. so I would say you are in need of front pads also even though they look good you are getting low.. this marker is designed to let you know its time before you get to metal to metal .. jerry
