2001 F350 7.3 Hard starting Frist start up for day no mater if day is 30 out side or 80 out side New injectors installed New Cam sen postioner installed New Duel 1000/800 batters New Battery wires and ends New Fuel Filter New Air Filter This am it was 60 out side sunny no rail no wind 1st day with new batterys also tryed starting truck waited till glow plug light went out Turned over just fine But failed to start Tryed for over 10 min's Had to plug in motor heater waited a Hr Fired right up frist hit Any ideas

I think u shud inspec fuel injector pump-its the heart of a diesel--also do a compression chec--purchase a haynes manual or go to library sec629

I have a 03 mits endevour 3.8litre pwr steering belt broke had both belts replaced tried start the vhicle.cranks but won't start.


Check at the area of where the belt snapped what sensors and plugs and wiring could be affected. Most probably either a broken wire or broken or unplugged any connector.or any sensitive sensor has been damaged.

Dear expert, my 2001 nissan pathfinder will click when the key is turned to start, but will not start, until after several retries. wondering what the issue could be.


when you try to start next time hold the key in the on postion if it does not start and move the key hard up and down and see if it starts. If that does not work try to have someone start it and some one else lay underneath the pass side and hit the start with a hammer. if it then starts right up the starter is bad. Those are the frist 2 that come opff the top of my head.

Went to see wat was wrong with my 1999 chevy cavaliar they diagnoised it with the proble of having a crank and camshaft postion sensor problem started right up for a day then stauled out and wouldnt start...


thats corret replace crank postion sensor and cam postion senosr as they both cause hard start and no start situations the cam sensor is very easy to change crank sensor needs to have harmonic balancer pulluy removed and then remove sensor and reinstall new sensor easy but you need a removal tool and install tool for that pully can be rented at autozone its free its just a depostit i hope it helps

are you getting spark ??

if so check crank postion sensor or cam postion sensor

I have a 2000 nissan maxima that all of the sudden will not hardly rev and sputters. and back fires in intake. any one know what to check next. new parts-crank sensers both, cam sen. map sen.exhaust not...


A range of problems starting with something as simple as a nasty injector.

Sounds like an injector problem.
Many owners with vehicles which came with injectors DO NOT look after the proper
maintenance of them
My brother-in-laws 2001 had this problem which dissipated after he ran a 1/2 tank full of hi test and a couple of cans of injector cleaner.
DON'T DO THE FOLLOWING; BUT...in Germany many garages (private garages) would add a liter (quart) of Diesel to the Regular petrol to run through the system - which I tried on a sluggish 1989 Porsche 911 Carera.

I also replaced the Digital Motor Electronics fuel injectors with a set of Lucas's...my Porsche did the same as your Nissan

A simple hook up to a computerized analyzer should get to the cause in 10.8 secs flat.

Timing Chain, Sprockets, Front Cover and Seal REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 2.5L and 4.0L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Accessory drive belt
    • Cooling fan and shroud
    • Crankshaft damper
    • Front crankshaft seal
    • Accessory brackets
    • Front cover
    • Oil slinger
  3. Rotate the crankshaft so that the timing marks are aligned. Fig. 1: Timing chain alignment marks — 2.5L and 4.0L engines 7924pg20.gif

  4. Remove the timing chain and sprockets. To install:
  5. For 2.5L engines, turn the timing chain tensioner lever to the unlock (down) position. Pull the tensioner block toward the tensioner lever to compress the spring. Hold the block and turn the tensioner lever to the lock (up) position. Fig. 2: Timing chain tensioner — 2.5L engines 7924pg19.gif

  6. Install the timing chain and sprockets with the timing marks aligned. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm) for 2.5L engines or to 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm) for 4.0L engines.
  7. For 2.5L engines, release the timing chain tensioner.
  8. Install or connect the following:
    • Oil slinger
    • New front crankshaft seal to the front cover
    • Front cover, using a new gasket
    • Timing Case Cover Alignment and Seal Installation Tool 6139 in the crankshaft opening to center the front cover Fig. 3: Timing Case Cover Alignment and Seal Installation Tool 6139 — 2.5L and 4.0L engines 7924pg21.gif

  9. Tighten the front cover bolts as follows:
    1. Step 1: Cover-to-block 1⁄4 inch bolts to 60 inch lbs. (7 Nm)
    2. Step 2: Cover-to-block 5⁄16 inch bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
    3. Step 3: Oil pan-to-cover 1⁄4 inch bolts to 85 inch lbs. (9.5 Nm)
    4. Step 4: Oil pan-to-cover 5⁄16 inch bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm)
  10. Install or connect the following:
    • Accessory brackets
    • Crankshaft damper. Tighten the bolt to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
    • Cooling fan and shroud
    • Accessory drive belt
    • Negative battery cable
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.

2002 escape 3.0 camshaft cap bolt torque specifications


make sure to apply 5w-20 oil to caps prior to install. Also caps and journals are number so you do not install in wrong place. Starting with Righ side looking at pulleys from front, right side cam start with first cap on left being #1 then bolt on other side of cap as #2. Cap behind would be #3 to left then #4 bolt next to it. Keep tightening the next 2 caps behind them in same manner, then jump to front of cam to left side and tighten caps front to back. You should tighten to 10 Nm (89 lbs-in) with a torque wrench. Then you tighten left side head cam caps starting with the left side if looking at front pulleys. Start at front caps working to rear then jump to right side cam front to back. Tighten these caps at 8 nm (71 lb-in) using torque wrench. Also make sure if heads are bolted to block that cam pulley postion is the following: left side looking at pulleys------left pulley mark at 12 o'clock right pulley mark at 3 o'clock. Right side head looking at pulleys------- left side pulley at 9 o'clock and right side pulley at 12 o'clock. When I say clock postion that means using head where valve covers meet as your straight vertical postion.

1998 chevy c15 5.7 SFI SYSTEM


My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.
