Question about Ford ZX2

1 Answer

Will not start or turn over. its like it isnt getting any power to anything. battery is fully charged and new if that helps. you put the key in and nothing. no door chime, dome light, headlights, or radio. the only thing that comes on is the service engine light and the fuel hand moves to show how much is in there. possibilities of what it might be ?

Does the horn honk? Headlight come on? Emergency flashers? If these things work it's time to check fuses. If they dont work you have a failure in the electrical system. Check the main fuse block under the hood or a shop needs to be visited.

Escape doesn't start, battery is ok, 12.6v. starter does turn over, but vehicle doesn't start, what could i look for?

Put a charger on the battery overnight first, yours is a little low. Put the charger on a trickle charge, about 2 amps. A fully charged battery should be at least 13.5 up to 1.2v. It could be that there is enough power to turn it over but not provide power for spark.
If this works, then you need to get your charging system looked at to see why it's not keeping the battery fully charged. The battery may be weak which will show up in a "load test". Your alternator may be starting to wear out or the belt could be stretching and starting to slip or you may have something staying on, when the truck is turned off, that is drawing power. It could also be that the starter is drawing more power because it is starting to wear as well.
Try these and see how it goes. Hope this helps.

could be the battery still or it could be your battery head isnt contacting well. wen your rev the battery is good for some time and later thesame problem then i think your alternator isnt charging your battery which kills battery life span. try all this and if no charge get back to me.

Won't start without a jump even with new battery

Normally a new battery would require at least 8 hours of continuous charging before it can take the full load of a vehicles lighting, starting motor etc...So please ensure that the new battery gets fully charged (ideally leave it charging for about 16 hours). I am not an expert on vehicles but I now this is how batteries (especially new batteries work). You would require a proper battery charge for this job because you cannot leave a another vehicle running with jump leads for this that long. Hope this helps.

1994 grand am not getting any power after changing starter.

If you have a security system make sure it's been re-set. If you have power at main starter terminal check power at the small terminal with the key turned to start. If no power there, check the neutral safety switch. Check that battery is fully charged and terminals are clean before anything else.
good luck...need more help just ask!
