If you go to faxonautoliterature you can get the dealer service manual for the car and that should have a complete wiring diagram as well as everything else. I've used them before and had excellent service. Hope this helps.

Cant get 8n to run. starts but misses. new plugs, crb, distributor, coil, tank shut-off, ign switch, ceramic resister, ballast resister, fresh gas, but has power to ign switch whether on or off.

If it starts but misses meaning it runs but not on all cylinders?.....then,
Are the spark plug wires in the correct firing order?
Are the spark plug wires in good shape?
Is there compression on all cylinders?
If a valve is bad it won't fire smoothly.
If you pull the plugs are any black with carbon?
(a black carbon coated plug will not fire, especially with a 6 volt system)
Is the distributor car attached fully and correctly?
When the distributor cap is off,is there any side play in the distributor shaft?
Is the point gap correct on the points?
Start the tractor cold and feel the spark plugs, the one or two that are colder than the others are the missing cylinders,if two are cold you could try switching those spark plug wires with each other,in case they are mixed up,and if two are missing are side by side you could have a head gasket leak between cylinder problem.
TIP 1, the BEST THING to do on a Ford 8N is to convert it to 12 volts neg ground.Add a alternator,(76 chev pickup alt fits good) leave the starter as it is (it does care if it's positive or neg ground or 12v) and add a 72 dodge ignition resistor in line to a 12 volt coil.(unless your new 12v coil does not need a resistor)
This set up will increase your fuel economy, add power and start instantly in any temp.
TIP 2,you can use unleaded fuel in a Ford 8n as it already has hardened valve seats.
BUT 10% Ethanol fuel is BAD,it can be used, but shut off the fuel at the tank and let the tractor carb run dry before shutting it off if you are not going to use the tractor with in a few days.

2000 dodge avenger suddenly loses power while driving at 30 miles per hour

if you have an auto zone near you go there and ask them to run a check on it and they will hook it up to a computer thing and they can tell you one or more things that may be wrong with it. My car was doing that recently and i found out it was miss fireing on the 2nd cylinder but it still runs. It could also be spark plugs or wires. It might even be a little thing like an O2 cencer. hope this helps

I replaced head gaskets on 1997 suburban 5.7 tried to start no fire to plugs pulled coil wire off no sign of spark took photos before and everything is hooked up right was running before but was missing...

There are a few things to look at first take a good look at the distributor, there are connections to the module, one goes to coil and the other from wiring harness make sure all conections are connected, check the coil connection too, next is theres a few ground wires to thermostat housing, this is a main computer ground, most of the time its grounded to bolt on housing if not look around for it and make sure its grounded, these are the most common reasons, also all power wires connected on alt and at the starter, make sure no wires were pulled out by mistake.

What is the ohm raeding on the fuel sender,i need a wire scamatic from chasis to fuelpump/sender? i'm adding a extra fuel tank to my truck from a isuzu trooper. are the senders compadible ? thanks

ohm's law tells us your fuel gauge will not work properly if you hook up the tank senders in parallel and there is no way to hook them up in series. what you need is a transfer tube between the bottom of the tanks to equalize the levels in each tank. then your fuel gauge will tell you how full they both are.

I have a 72 javelin that when i try to start it fires then dies as soon as i let the key go back to thr run position. when i hook a jumper from the solinoid to the coil it starts right up.I have replaced...

at 13.4 volts the alternator is NOT charging it has to be 14.5-14.8 volts to be charging
next for the main problem
there are 2 ignition circuits attached to the ignition switch
the star position also allows power to the coil as it engages the starter
releasing it back to run engages the 2nd circuit that allows power to the coil through a resistor or resistor wire
if it stops after starting the problem is in that wire
with out starting it put the key in the run position and read the voltage at the + point of the coil
with no reading you have either a bad circuit or a bad ignition switch

Need a wiring scamatic

All systems? or just a few? You can go to and register your vehicle (by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to the ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual) and Shop Manuals as well as Service bulletins.
