Question about 2003 Ford Focus

1 Answer

The A/C compressor keeps turning on and off. Stays on for about 3 seconds and off for 3 seconds constantly. Does not blow cold. Took it to be looked at and the rapair man said that the evaporator hose had a bad leak. He also said it would cost around $850.00 due to it being a 2 day job. He would have to take out the dash (air bag included) just to get to it. I'm not too comfortable with someone messing around with the airbags. Was wandering if someone could give some advice. Thanks.

I have a 2001 Ford Mustang V6, the ac is blowing warm air. We checked the refrigerant and it is full. The ac compressor will kick on for a few seconds and then kick off. Why is the compressor not staying...

it's either low (in spite of your readings) or your a/c clutch is not working correctly or you have too big an air gap in the clutch.
First, just disconnect the 2 pin connector from the a/c pressure cycling swithc and jumper the 2 pins with a wire to force the clutch to stay engaged. See if it blows cold then, and stays engaged. You can run this way for about 15 minutes before you have to pull the plug.
report reulsts.

A lot of times its just an O-rimg. The more then lilely put a dye into the freon line and are going with what they see. I would get a second opinion or buy a small black light and look for my self to verify that it is the compressor.

A/C blows good cold air and everything works as it should, however when I turn the A/C on (doesn't matter what fan speed) I hear a constant clicking/ticking noise coming from what sounds like a fan

What you are most likely hearing is the compressor kicking on/off. The constant kicking could be a sign that there's insufficient refrigerant to keep the compressor running continuously without shutting on/off. Eventually, the compressor won't kick on at all, a safety feature designed to prevent doing damage to a compressor that's undercharged. Have the AC system checked.

I have a 1999 volvo s70 non-turbo 2.4 5 cyl. I bought it 1 year ago with 124k. It runs great, but the a/c cuts off when it gets over 90 degrees. At freeway speeds, it stays on (until it gets around 100...

There have been a lot of problems with the compressor cutting out when it gets hot. When the A/C begins to blow warm, check the power supply wire to the compressor. If there is power in the wire, you will most likely have to replace the compressor. If there is no power, you will have to trace it back to see what the problem is (a wiring diagram will help greatly).

AC blows cold or hot

if it is the same thing that is wrong with my frontier. check to see if the compressor is turning on when you use the ac. if not you might have a bad connection that is intermittantly preventing the compressor from getting the signal to turn on. get a service manual and a voltmeter and you can fix.
