Depends in the mileage since the transmission was last serviced. It sounds like low pressure from the pump. It could be just a filter. You did not say where the leaking seal is, but a leaking seal will not fix itself.

Possible leaks are 1. Transmission belly Pan gasket 2. Front pump/torque converter seal. 3. Transmission fluid cooler lines 4. Axle seals at right and left half shafts.

On the front of your truck where your radiator is there is a transmission cooler, there are lines running from your transmission to that cooler they could be leaking, the transmission cooler is behind the grill on the front of your truck infront of your radiator, and as far as a stop leak, myself it is alot cheaper than buying a transmission, I would suggest that you use CD2 transmission stop leak, just a suggestion.

My 97 subaru out back 2.5 liter engine is leaking while driving onto exuast where are these leaks coming from there is a ton of old oil built up under engine

It is either the rear main seal or the plastic tubing in the rear of the motor. My 96 does this also. you may be able to fix it or slow it down with oil stop leak that works to lubricate the seals. Most likely the only way to stop it is have the transmission or motor pulled and repair it that way. Very common Subaru issue for many years now. take care.

no quick fix for your leaking between transmission and motor. you can try stop leak,it may quit for a little while, but will resume leak. only repair is to pull the transmission and replace the front deal of the transmission.[sorry] for your trouble but thank you for choosing fixya.com

The type best used is "Genuine Subaru Automatic Transmission Fluid Type-HP or IDEMITSU ATF HP. you add it through the dip stick hole. You may also wish to add a transmission leak oil to swell the gaskets and stop the leak add it the same way if you choose to use it. both of these should be available at your local auto parts store like NAPA.
