I have a '91 chev. s 10 truck 2.8 liter v6. It starts right up but wont hold idle i have to pedal the gas to keep it running

The computer controls idle speed by the idle air control valve on the side of the throttle body. The valve regulates the amount of air entering the intake.
The throttle body could be dirty or the control valve may be faulty.

IT WONT HOLD AN IDLE !!! doe's it make funny faces ? doe's it shake rattle and roll ? really there's a ton of reason's why it wont idle every thing form **** gas to screwed spark plugs. check your plugs and wires plus the distributer cap and rotter and air filter then fuel filter then most important thing of all is the engine light on if it is take that beast down to a shop and have the codes read that will point u in the right direction.

Wont idle

put the crank at TDC and the cam gear and TDC slip the belt on adjust the tensioner and then rotate the engine two times make sure the timing marks are still lined up then put it back together and try it if you have the timing off it wont idle right and if could also be the throttle positioning sensor
