The O/D OFF light is lit, when the shifter is in the O/D position. What causes this? The transmission is a replacement.

if the o/d light is on it means there is a tranmission code. if you just had new transmission put in then maybe they didn't clear codes out.

1996 BLAZER 350: The tranmission won't shift past 2nd gear. It works in L2 but slips to neutral after 2nd gear when shifter is in D or OD position and accellerator is under load.

Transmission cable falls off linkage arm

I'm looking for this part too. The shifter arm in my Trailblazer has become disconnected from the transmission cable and I currently have it held on with wrap ties. Any luck finding this part and installing it?

My 1999 beetle wont go into reverse.It has a manual transmission. I check the fluid and its ok. It had a broken cable carrier. I replaced it.All the rest of the gears seems to be working fine.

Try adjusting the shifter cables, if you look at the trans youll see 2 cables and on the ends youll see springs with black collars on the end, you have to pull the collars back and twist them to lock. then if u look on the side of the rod where the cables connect to youll see a little black lever, you have to push down on the rod and flip the lever straight up, then you have to go inside the car and pull up the boot around the shifter, on the shifter youll see a little piece sticking off to the side with a hole in it, you have to put the shifter over to the left and get yourself a nail and put it through the hole into the shifter housing, then go back out to the trans and unlock the collars and flip that lever down.

If that dosnt work youll have to bring it to a tranmission shop. because the problem is likley internal

Tranmission problem is not shifting automatic any more get stock

Check the transmission fluid... although I doub this would be the case since you are able to do it manually. If the fluid level is fine, you should have the transmission checked by an authorized mechanic. It can be something as simple as an adjustment, but may also be something more serious.

Placed the van in reverse and the shifter would not shift just fell loose

sounds like the linkage from the shifter to the transmission came apart at some point, if you want to look at it yourself jack the front end up, support the van with jack stands then locate the tranmission linkage at the tranmission it may be linkage or could be a cable if everything looks good at the transmission follow it back to the shifter you should find the problem

Tranmission indicator reads E not D for drive

E = Error.

Electronic Transmission Error Indicator
The vehicle is equipped with a redundant electronic gearshift indicator. This character appears with the key in the RUN position and displays the same gear selection as shown on the selector lever floor console next to the range selector lever. If an "E" character flashes or remains on this indicates that a transmission malfunction has occurred.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go to Autozone and ask them to perform free computer scan to see if any trans codes show up. May be just a fluke.
