Question about 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300 Diesel
Dropped car off for a MOT and they told me that on revving the engine for emission test it ran at full throttle, filled the garage full of oil smoke and would not turn off. Both guys ran out thinking it was going to blow, but it stopped after about 2 minutes. It got very hot and I think has burnt some crankcase oil. I`m thinking a build up of oil in the turbo or faulty turbo drawing oil down the oil supply pipe. It was definitely oil smoke and not diesel - any ideas?
You sound on the right track it could have been pulling oil from the crankcase through the crankventilation valve
