Question about 1995 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Air conditioner went off when accelerated and won't come back on. I installed a switch to the compressor and it works fine. relays have all been changed. is there something in the computer that causes this? Or the transmission computer?

sorry i didn't mention but it is fully charged.

  • mbmack37 May 08, 2010

The air conditioner works just fine with the compressor turned on manually. I've been driving it that way but it won't idle up when the compressor is turned on and the engine tries to die. I idled it up jut a little to prevent that but i would like to fix the problem. I would like to find out if the computer will cause it before i spend all that money on a new one.

get it hooke up to a scanner, could ge the ac pressure switch,/sensor, or controller

  • mbmack37 May 24, 2010

well, like I said the ac worked fine with the compressor turned on manually. The problem was connected to another prob. The engine would shut off randomly driving down the road, I put it in neutral and started it right up and kept on driving. It ended up being the main relay, it controls several things to include the fuel pump and it also sends a signal to the ecm, I guess to turn the compressor off when starting. Come to find out it is a common problem with this car but no one ever mentioned anything about the ac. Well i re-soldered all the connections on the relay and everything is working fine now. Thanks for the replies and maybe someone else can get some help from this dialog.

Only way to tell if A/C Evaporator Core Orifice tube is plugged is by looking at A/C gauge readings , An if it is plugged you more then likely need a new compressor , they become plugged with metal particles from worn out compressor. Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

I currently have had my air conditioner die on me. When you turn it on it sounds like its working but nothing comes out. As soon as the air conditioning went my car started squealing when I accelerate.

The a/c compressor clutch might have locked up it should be free spinning when not engaged but could cause a belt to squeal and possiblly break if locked up

I have a 03 honda civicand the air conditioner wont work? it doesnt need recharged and the light comes on when i push the button but i get no cold air? any ideas?

I have the same problem right now, and from what I can figure, it looks like an intermittent thermal protector switch on top of the AC compressor. My 2003 Civic air conditioning works fine for 20 minutes or so and then stops working. If this switch is faulty, the compressor clutch won't engage and you won`t get cold air. I will get it replaced soon, but it seems like the access is not easy.

Radio, lighter, and air conditioner on 92 buick le sabre malfunctioned...radio and lighter won't work at all, air conditioner won't recognize being turned on anything but defrost and defog. Could it be...

Check for a fuse that indicates radio and replace it if it's burnt through or melted or discolored. The Buicks have dash controls that require expensive repairs sometimes to get the temperature controls to work so some people jump around the controls by installing a separate toggle switch that directly turns the AC unit off and on for 92 through 94 Buicks. Any AC shop can install the bypass wires.

In the engine bay, there is a set of fuses by the battery. Pop open the fuse panel. There should be a set of relays. Check in your manual under "Roadside Emergenies" for the relays and you will find one for the A/C Compressor. The compressor normally checks out fine, it is a common problem that the relay goes bad. Swap the relay with a new one and you should be golden!

Check the gas pressure, if it low it inhibits the relay that energises the compressor.
