I need to replace the thermostat on my 98 countour. where is the housing located?

  • The housing is held on my two bolts and utilizes an "O" ring rather than a gasket like many of the thermostat housings. So you will need to check that "O" ring for cracking and damage. It's located on the right hand side of the engine under the intake housing which needs to come out to replace this thermostat. If you follow the top hose of the radiator it leads right to your thermostat housing.

Regards, Tony

Liitle break

It is a round cylinder that is bolted to the firewall/bulkhead and the brake master cylinder is mounted on it. The servo has a largish vacuum pipe going to it from the inlet manifold on the engine.
