Description: The fuel filter looks like a small coffee can, it is approximately 4 inches long and 2 inches in diameter and silver in color.

Location: The filter is located in the fuel line almost directly under the drivers seat, attached to the inside of the frame rail.

Replacement: You MUST discharge the pressure in the fuel system, failure to do this will result in 90 PSI gasoline being sprayed under your car, and on you. Raise the vehicle, if needed. Locate the filter and determine if it is a bolt on or if it has special clips.

  • Bolt on, leave the bracket to the frame tightened, and use TWO wrenches to loosen the lines (failure to use both may damage your fuel lines). Once both sides are loose catch any gasoline that may leak into a safe container. After the leakage has stopped loosen both lines completely, then remove the bracket.
  • Clip On, Remove the bracket holding the filter to the frame and move it away from the frame for more clearance. Ensure you are using the correct size compressor, and clamp it on the line. ëíDangeríí If you have not discharged the fuel pressure, the next step is very dangerous: Hold the filter firmly and slide the compressor into the clip, you should feel a click when it has pushed back the spring, leaving the compressor clip in place slightly twist the line while pulling it away from the filter (if the spring is compressed it should pull away without much force). Repeat this on the other side line.
Most filters will now come out with a slight push towards the front of the van (if not you may need to loosen the fuel line running to the motor) ñ Do Not push on the tank side line, you could damage the pickup inside the tank ñ once it is out make sure you place the new filter in the correct position (yes you can reverse them) Assembly is the reverse of disassembly in this case, However clip style filters do NOT require the tool to be replaced, simply press the line back onto the filter until it clicks.

Where are yhe fuses located on a 2000 chevy astro van located

Have you checked your freon level? The compressor will not engauge when the R134 level is too low .More than likely you need to recharge the system after 14 yrs you may have a small seal leak. Try picking up a recharge kit with a gauge attachment. This has worked well for me on my 3 Astros I currently own. Othwise the fuse box is on the drivers side left of the steering column.

Are you referring to the oil filter? It is located under the engine on the drivers side just in front of the flywheel cover on the transmission. The drain plug is a 15mm bolt.

Code Reader reads Shifter Solenoid Stuck or Off

The Shift solenoids are located in the transmission oil pan. I would recommend replacing both shift solenoids while you're in there. Also replace the filter and pan gasket. The shift solenoids are located towards the rear of the valvebody and will be identical to each other. They are held in place by a retaining clip which is easily removed with a small screwdriver or similar tool. Care must be taken as parts may fly out of the bore when the solenoids are removed. Hope this helps.
