How many attempts before it will start?
assuming you can start it after multiple attempts, they you are probably dealing with a fuel pressure leak down issue which is either caused by a leaking injector or more often a defective check valve in the fuel take

to confirm... when the vehicle won't start on the first try... turn the key off then on at least five time

each time in the on position, NOT starting, make sure you listen to hear the fuel pump

then try to start the vehicle after the 3rd cycle

if the truck starts then you know leak down is the concern

using a scan tool monitor fuel trims
if long term trims are less than 5% then replace the fuel pump

Could be a bad fuel pump or plugged fuel filter.

1999 GMC Suburban turns over but won't start

It sounds like the choke is the most likely culprit. Take the air cleaner off the throttle body/Carburater. Have someone cover most of the throttle body/Carburater intake, if you don't have help use a piece of heavy cardboard. If it starts up right away it's the choke. Note: if you use cardboard don't rev the engine you may **** the cardboard into the engine.
I'm afraid with all the different types of choke controls I can't tell you how to fix your choke with out actually seeing it.

1999 Suburban turns over but engine doesn't start...

First, make sure they put oil back in the crankcase. Your motor may be seized. Next, we need to know if the fuel filter has ever been changed. If not, it's probably clogged and it will burn up the fuel pump if you continue to try to force gas into the injectors.

WON'T START AFTER RUNNING FINE - STARTS FINE WHEN COLD THEN AFTER RUNNING AWHILE , IF YOU TURN IT OFF - ACTS LIKE IT'S GETTING NO GAS - HAVE NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER -

I have the 1999 suburban, and my mechanic says that the injectors are worn, and that when you shut off the engine, fuel pressure continues briefly and the injectors "leak" a bit, flooding the engine briefly. That's why after they still start right up after a few minutes, i.e., not enough time to flood, or they start up cold, having drained any of the fuel out of the injectors. Park for a couple hours, and you've got a mildly flooded engine. Replacing the injectors is what he suggested, but that is pricey. Not sure if this is the answer or not, but it's what I've been told. Good luck!

1999 GMC Suburban Wont Turn Over

It sounds like you have a security problem, I had the same thing it would fire and run for half of a second and then that was it if anything at all. Had the security system rebooted, now it starts and runs fine.

My 1999 GMC Suburban won't start

It can be fuel pump, the only true way to know is to do a fuel pressure test, but if its been a year sense you last chg. the fuel filter its time to chg. it again.

Ran fine then would not start

If it has been rainy, snowy or wet at all were you live you will need to change the cap and rotor. These vortec motors with the horizontel cap are very well known for not starting when damp. Also while you have the cap off there are two holes in the bottom of the distributer with screens in them, clean these out or remove them to keep the moisture from returning.
