Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Galant
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cylinder es. I hear a loud squeal when I start the car that lasts for a short while and then stops. The noise comes from under the hood around the region near the right tire. It's loud and very irritating to those standing near the car. It started happening in winter and has continued to be like that for over 4 months. I thought it was because of the cold icy winter. But now the weather is warmer and the sound hasn't stopped. What could the problem be?

The probable causes are: 1. The drive belts are slipping. 2. The drive pulleys for some engine accessories are misaligned. 3. You have turned the steering wheel to the limits. 4. The drive belts are loose.5. Your brake drum backing plates are rubbing against the brake drum. The brakes also might be a problem. check the brake drums/discs. Finally check your wheel and wheel alignment.
