Question about 2002 Buick LeSabre

New water pump, bypass hoses on a 2002 buick lesabre, but vehicle still runs between 200 and 209 degrees! Is it normal for the temperature to fluxuate in that range or is the thermostat bad??

The thermostat for that vehicle should be a 190 or 195 degree rating. If your temp is moving up and down by only 9 degrees then the thermostat is probably ok. You might check your coolant level and make sure that it is at the proper level and that all of the air has bled out of the system. Do this when the vehicle is cold and never open a coolant system on a vehicle when it is hot.

You will have to remove the belt, altenator and the tensioner bracket. The piece of plastic will be in its bore I've never had one fall in the engine.

  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4. 2002 Buick LeSabre Custom. Cooling System had brown chiffon looking foam in radiator. Drained and flushed cooling system with water. Disconnected both heater hoses and forced water through in both...


The brown looking chiffon could be oil in the water. However, if you are sure the system is ok then I would check the actuator door motor on the heater and make sure it is allowing the heat into the car. Seems as if you have done as much as you can.

I have a buick lesabre 2002 and my question is *is it normal that my rear air suspention is verry hard in whinter ???* if the car comes out from the heated garage it's OK but if it sits all night outside...


Yes this is normal. The oil in the shocks thickens just like motor oil, and their is not enough weight in the rear of the vehicle to give the shocks enough of a workout to heat up and loosen up

2002 buick lesabre custom has had issues lately with at speed 50-55 it kinda misses and just yesterday overheated and has no heat, i put a new thermostat in did not fix the problem but the radiator was...


if your radiator has a cap remove it and start the motor turn the heater on high and put it on defrost watch the coolant when the bubbles stop coming out and the fluid is at a full level there should be no more air in the system. a miss fire is caused by bad plugs or plug wires and i would back flush the heater core remover the hoses going to the firewall and flush the heater core with water from your garden hose. to check the water pump start the motor and watch the pump to see if any fluid comes from it.

How do i bypass the heater core on a 97 buick le sabre


Ok to eliminate having heat in your vehicle and/or replacing a damaged heater core unhook both the 5/8" id hoses going to your heater core then remove them and connect a hose between both outlets to loop them. Newer replacment water pumps have interchangeable outlet fittings which can be removed and plugged with a pipe or drain plug if applicable the same as with your water neck fitting. Connecting the 2 together is a much easier fix

How to install a new top and bottom hvac heater hose fitting for a 2002 buick lesabre custom


The hoses are moved by turning them a few degree's, then pulling them off. See diagram below.

What cooling system thermastat should I use? My heater is not working. Water temp is 175 to 185 degrees.


Your run temperature is within spec. Your problem possibly is in the heater core itself.

Check the hoses going to the heater core and make sure both are warm when the car in at run temperature and the heat is turned on.

If one is cold and other warm you have a flow problem in the heater core that must be corrected.
