Question about 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Change your transmission fluid and filter.
The extended park time allowed all the gunk and debris in your transmission to settle out.
It now runs fine until your trans temps come up to operating temps, and the thinner(hot) fluid picks up the crud, plugs your filter, and now your transmission cannot pump fluid .
when you shut your ride off and let it set, the crud settles off from the filter, back to the transmission pan.

Sounds like transmission is low on fluid or the transmission cooler not working and getting hot

The ck engine light should not be ignored, what sensor was shown to be bad ? Have it scanned again and replace the sensor that is bad if it still runs rough you might want to consider a tune up. Plugs, wires, fuel and air filter's and clean the throttle body with some gumout. It could also be the IAC motor Idle Air Control. Good Luck

this depends on whats wrong with the cruise control if its just a fuse then it will be relatively cheap if its the servo itll be a little more expensive but not extremely outrageous should be around $100 or less give a take a few dollars.
