2000 Cadillac Catera was running fine. while driving it just stopped with no warning. Code reads 411. So I checked all fuses including the 80 amp main fuses. None of them were blown.

Where is the air solinoid and would that make it stop running?

This would make sense if the engine didn't stop running while driving with no warning. However it gave no warning at all. Just like some one turned the key off. It turns over fine. codes 300,302,304,306, and 411 are reading

This needs to be checked for injector pulse, spark, and fuel delivery. It is likely you have a failed fuel pump. Let me know what else you need and I will do my best to provide it but some testing needs to be done first.

codes 300,302,304,306 means misfire in cylinder 2, 4 and 6

  • ZJ Limited
    ZJ Limited May 08, 2010

    Year/Model: 2000 Catera Sport

My misfires are averaging the same amount of misfires in each cylinder
    in the same bank.

    Assumptions:

    a) can not be Mass Flow Sensor - because this would affect both banks

    b) can not be Crank/Cam sensor - because there is only one of each and

    both banks would be affected

    c) can not be a fuel injector - propbability of all failing equaly is
    actually

    improbable

    d) not a compression problem - probability of each have the same low

    compression value would be improbable

I have not solved the problem yet, but here is what I have done so far.

    1) replaced the coil pack ($73 US from autopart giant, an OEM part)

    Resutls: No change in problem

Kept old coil pack for future use

    2) switched each O2 sensor, one at a time (there is a total of 4), with
    the

    opposite side of car.

Results: No change in problem (problem did not migrate)

    3) replaced throtle body gaskets

    Results: No change in problem

    Next Steps:

I am now suspecting that I may have an exhaust manifold leak that may be
causing the misfires equally, but I am still searching for documented
evidence that this could in fact create this misfire problem in the
    entire bank.

If anyone knows of any imperical data that this could be the problem I
would be most interested. Even though I suspect a small leak in the
exhaust manifold on one side (the side where the bank is failing
equally), it is a bit of work to replace this gasket.

    Good luck.

How to fix P0335 and P0727 error codes for Cadillac Catera 2000?

P0335 is a code for a faulty crank angle sensor. When this sensor starts going bad, usually the car will not start till it cools down, may cause rough running or no start at all. P0727 is a communication error between the engine control module and the transmission control module. Check for any bad connections between both modules.

It started dying only sometimes, if you let it set 5 min or so it will start again. Drive it all day runs great then pull into parking lot or stop sign and it dies. Turns over fine but does not fire....

The Catera has a history of stalling/cutoff issues. Many are solved with the replacement of the crankshaft position sensor. It does give the symptoms you describe. I would try that first as it is fairly cheap and easy to replace. If the problem persists after that, you've at least removed one potential possibility.

25597730-01vm304gptfsbcx1qe0tia2u-3-1.jpgThis is the description of the crank sensor from AUTOZONE (cost $44.99 USD)

  • The crankshaft position sensor identifies position of the crankshaft to the ignition control module (ICM), engine control module (ECM) or powertrain control module (PCM)
  • When not replaced, vehicle may experience no start, hard start, intermittent engine shut down, misfire, engine cut out, excessive fuel consumption, CEL illumination and/or failed emission test
  • Proper alignment, positioning and spacing for faster, easier installation
  • Designed to meet or exceed OE specifications in form, fit and function

Why is the sport mode light flashing on my 2000 Cadillac Catera?

Sport Mode Indicator Lamp and Automatic Transmission Warning Lamp (STL)
The sport mode indicator lamp illuminates when the vehicle has been put into the sport mode by pressing the "S" button on the gear selector. When this lamp is illuminated the vehicle will have slightly firmer shifts and increased performance for part and full throttle situations.
This lamp will also flash when there may be a problem with the automatic transmission. The transmission control module (TCM) performs a continual self diagnosis of certain control functions. The lamp will flash only when an error is detected. The TCM will store in memory a current and/or history trouble code when a problem is detected. I'd have it checked out !

I have a 2000 cadillac catera my radio, maplight, high beam light, heated seats, and onstar does not work when I start the engine. when I turn it off they work until I open the door. PLEASE HELP

Did you recently have a loss of power to the car? change the battery? if so, you need to reset your system. My husband and I just figured this out this weekend. His sunroof hasn't worked in two years and it turns out you have to reset all the power options in the car. Google 2000 cadillac catera %calibrate ETC% loss of power, you'll find the step by step instructions for recalibrating the car's computer and resetting the power options

2000 catera radio stopped working

HAD the same problem and it turned out to be the battery even though all system (i.e. charging, alternator, etc.) were good. Noticed the voltage meter would dip while driving then show a charge when first starting. Bottom line is battery was not holding the proper charge whiel running due to a short in the battery. New battery seems to have taken care of the problem... oh make sure the terminals are really clean.
