Look on the MFG Label,on the Drivers Door side of the A or B Piller. eg,open door look for label. If not there, look under hood above brake booster, on metal plate

You can also locate the original build sheet if it's still there and get the code from that.

Thanks everyone for helping me out on my project! Could I use seats from any year town car to install inside my 99 Lincoln town car signature Series? Need help with the door too please?

if you have the original panel (interior, color, trim paxkage, options power windows, power mirrors) than the year is enogh.however wouldnt it be nice to have all the right switches and buttons on the inside the mathew machanihea edition Lol logo and the right color paint on the outside.
Being project car im guessing your going to paint. But look for what you want, settle for what you can get.
Id drive 200 miles to get the right color doors or fenders in case i have to drive it a while before the paint comes in. Ill never forget the time the cops were looking for my two tone chevy. Ok i just threw that in for street cred.

How can i get the right touchup paint match for my car

Hi Robert:
Apart from trying to get a dealer colour code, Here's what I would do.
1) Take a picture in bright sunlight.
2) Download the picture to my computer.
3) Print the picture on my Canon printer.
4) Take the picture outside and compare to the car (on a sunny day)
5) Take the picture to my local Canadian Tire or Lordco or Napa store, and match to the "rattle can" paint selection.

Paint problems

You have 2 options:

1. Get a quote from a paint shop, or maybe a local "backyard" spraypainter who could probably do it cheaper. Check your phonebook for spraypainters in your area.
2. Respray the roof and trunk yourself using color-match spray cans from your local auto warehouse. You will to use masking tape and newspaper to cover the windows, windscreen, trims etc that you DON'T want painted.

Find color code

color codes for paint are usually on a sticker somewhere in the vehicle. try looking in the trunk on the spare tire cover or somewhere in the trunk. Thats where I've always found it. There will be a series of letters and numbers. Write them down and visit any automotive store that also sells paint. They will have a book that will list paint codes for different makes and models of cars. Simply find your make, model and year of car and find the code that matches. Sorry I don't remember which set is for paint, but it's usually near the beginnig of the codes on the sticker.

Take it to any auto body supply dealer, and they will look it up for you. There will be a paint code sticker on there somewhere, or they can match it with their paint chips.
