I would have the transmission fluid and filter changed. Make sure that the shop loosens the valvebody bolts to allow the converter and valvebody to drain, This will expel an extra 2-3 quarts of fluid from the transmission. MAKE SURE THEY ONLY USE ATF+4!!! Very IMPORTANT. Retorque the valvebody to 18 in/lbs and adjust the front and rear bands as specified in the service manual. Also have them check the throttle valve cable adjustment as this is a MAJOR cause of slippage and transmission failure if not adjusted properly. good luck

I have a 1984 Mercedes 300D Turbodiesel. I have heard many times that poeple that have changed the tranny fluid on cars, and on these cars especially, and saw that the tranny soon had major problems, or...

The detergent in the transmission fluid is at fault... it doesnt matter what kind it is.. what most people wont tell you is there transmissions started haveing issues before they changed the fluid, such as slipping or acting up. If your vehicle is doing that DO NOT change the fluid, or it will fail, the detergent deteriorates the burnt clutch particles and they come apart.. but if you have no issues, and the fluid doesnt smell burnt, by all means change it, it wont do you a bit of harm, you may actually save it for another 100000 miles.. hope this helped, i could probably explain it to you in better details, but i hope you understand.

Hi everyone! Transmission question. I have a 2009 CRV with automatic tranny and I happen to have to do a ton of parallel parking. Sometimes I gotta shifte between park drive and reverse about 30 times or...

Well the simple answer is no, your not hurting it. I would however be doing a tranny service every 6 months or so, to make sure the fluid is always fresh... The tranny will settle in and will take its time sometimes, but as long as it isnt slipping its all fine... If a shiftkit is available for your tranny it might be a thought... Just keep the fluid level always topped up and so your services about twice as often as needed...

I have the same car too and i would check the fluid level on the tranny while on, located passenger side behind engine(yellow dipstick). Then as someone else had told you to check all vaccum lines. Check for tears of cuts or disconnected. Also maybe the torque converter is bad. I also feel like something internal may have gotten damaged from some unnessesary high reving. Not recommended for never serivced trannys but if you've been on top of ur fluid service get one now and see if that might help. Also is the original tranny and how many miles does it have on it. Age is always a factor.

Hi Kathie!

It sounds like you probably have a cracked or disconnected vacuum line going from the engine (intake manifold area) to the transmission modulator valve. This is the only vacuum line that goes to the transmission, so if you can locate it under the vehicle at the tranny, you can trace it back to where it connects to the engine, and also check to make sure it is not leaking or disconnected. If it is bad, you will need to replace it.

If that is not the problem, then the modulator valve itself has probably gone bad and will need to be replaced, but that is an unusual failure.

Kathy, sorry for your troubles, hope this helps you get it straightened out, but if you still have questions or comments, do not hesitate to let us know! And please remember to rate my advice - your rating is my ONLY compensation for providing this assistance!

Thanks!
