Question about 1996 Ford Econoline

1 Answer

How do I remove the alarm system on my 1996 Ford Econoline Conversion Van? There is a "ticking" behind the back stereo in the van, where the alarm module is located. This results in the battery draining and not being able to start the van. I want to completely remove the alarm system, if possible, to prevent this from occurring again.

I have figured out a fairly easy way to be able to start the van without the alarm module being installed. It took a lot of research and due to the fact that telling everyone out here in the open could lead to a lot of systems being bypassed, the only thing I will say is that I discovered what could possibly work on a car alarm installer website. Thank you CaSmogTech for your advise and I will keep this info in mind if the problem comes back.

The PCM needs the module inline in order to get the correct input in order to allow the ign and fuel to turn on. There is no easy way for what your asking. Best bet is to get it diagnosed and fixed. It will be alot cheaper. There is no info on how to remove the alarm from the system. If there were, any thief would have access to it. Only info is to repair it. . I'm not sure its even that module thats your problem. You may have body control module and a lighting control module. Both of these are known for draining batteries when the key is out of the ignition.

If it were easy to bypass it wouldn't be security.

Where is the fuse box on this van. It is a conversion van.

What type of conversion? if the front of the van remains Ford the fuse box is located under a dash trim panel to the left of the steering wheel, in front of your knee, there are two plastic quick releases under the panel, twist them counter clockwise to remove and pull down

Selection lever does not move to AC vent or floor vent only to the defrost. AC compressor does not kick in when AC is selected.
Vacuum level is at 18 instead of 23.
Any suggestions.

1992 ford econoline club wagon van alarm randomly activates

I have the same problem on my Chateau, Can't buy new module, probably cost a fortune anyway. Disconnect the Grey connector on the alarm control module. I left the black on on for no special reason. Your power door locks will no longer work. (I'm not sure about the horn. If it doesn't I'll do something else)
The black control module is located on side of the van about 1 foot behind the drivers seat. Remove 2 plastic push in clips and yank the panel away to gain access to the module.
