My engine stalls while running and battery gets drained. also it doesnt start after dying or turning off for a certain amount of time. what could it be?

The reason car batteries can die if you forget to turn the lights off is it drains a significant amount of the battery's charge. Some newer car models will play a certain sound to notify the driver that the headlights are still on even though the car's engine is off.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go to start the car and it doesnt want to start have to turn the key multiple times to get it started... And then died while driving it on the highway after the turn signal was flipped on.....


you may need to replace your starter. The reason it goes died is you have drained the power out ot the battery
steps to take
1clean the battery post
2 have your battery tested if that is O.K
ask your auto part service person do they run diagnostic test for free on cars
then ask for a free diagnostic test
for them to be able to do this the car must be driverable and present at that time

I would say it may be the distributor, I would start there first. You may want to try a tune up first to see if it helps and I would definitely get my battery checked out since winter is approaching and it has been run down a few times. hope this helps tim

Battery died, installed new battery, car starts and will remain but continues to shut off. What needs to be done?


Not sure what you mean continues to shut off? The old battery died is it bad or just run down? Did it run for awhile and then start stalling? Or did it stall in about the same amount of time each time yo start it like in two minutes and if you start it right back it'll quit even sooner? The battery may be being over harged if you have a voltmeter it'll show 12.6 volts for a good charged battery thats been sitting for awhile in a car that's turned off, you start the car watching the meter and it'll go down to almost 10 volts as it's cranking and after ti starts go up to about 14.5 if the engine and thebattery are very hot it'll not be as high like 13.5 volts is still OK. You sound like it's higher than that like 15. the car will shut off to keep it self from burning up. If it's doing this unplug the altenator and it'll run OK but the battery won't be being carged and it'lll go down. You can still drive it to the repair shop to get it fixed ( the altenator changed or repaired and the system checked out) Or you can remove it yourself take it down to the parts store have them test it and if it's bad replaceit with a tested good rebuilt unit. Have them test the new one too as they may test your old one wrong or the new one they're selling you is bad too.

03 windstar cuts out when a/c is turned on

2003 Ford Windstar-this may the idleing amount is too much so which may makes it to idle rough. that means too much of fuel going inside the engine.

Engine stalls- this is because the when the car is off and when AC is on the AC runs in battery. When you try starting the car the starter motor takes power from the battery. it doesnt have enough battery power t o starts thats why it stalls.

Idle Air Control valve? If you give the car a bit of accelerator can you sustain the engine running? Once warmed up the engine will probably sustain itself needing no extra help. Once in this state if you turn the steering and the revs die to the point of engine stalls then this almost certainly time for a new IAC.

whats ur timing try 4 degrees btdc.if that doesnt help try unhookin ur battery for a couple of minutes

99 volkswagen passat starts, then stalls, won't keep idle


I am having a similar problem on a 2003 Volkswagon Passat 1.8L 4 cylinder manual engine. My batter (after 10 years of service) died about a month ago. When the engine is cold and I start it up the engine (if I do not carefully add gas to rev the engine) will idle at around 200 to 400 RPM and then stall. The problem does not occur after the engine has been going for more than about 90 seconds. No check engine light is on. Ideas anyone?
