Need to remove rear view mirror.

a portable car heater/defogger works fine as the heat melts the glue enough to remove the mirrow without fear of scratching or breaking the windshield. you can get one for about $ 11 on Amazon or ebay.

Tip

Rear View Mirror Upgrade

Improve vision and safety in your 2002 or 320i by replacing the puny factory mirror with the larger factory one from an E-28 (5-series). It snaps into place and you don't have to worry about it coming unglued from the windshield and falling in your lap.

The window is unglued on the bottom and sides.

The dealer can fix virtually any problem with a late model car. But, if you use epoxy or trim adhesive, you may be able to do the repair yourself.

I once used 'gel' super glue to exactly meter and put glue where it belongs and get an instant bond on rubber to glass or rubber to metal bonding.

Should be a set screw that holds it in place. Screw should be visible when looking up at attaching point. Most likely will require a small allen wrench.

How to glue 97 monte rear view mirrow back on windshield, no screw to get the little metal hanger off rest of mirror,

The only thing holding the bracket on is a screw. If the mirror were on the windshield, look up from under it, there will be a hole. Inside is a set screw, it requires a small allen wrench. Instructions come with the glue for attatching it. You can purchase the glue kit at any auto parts store. Before you clean the area, take a felt marker and mark a larger than the bracket " + " where the old one was on the outside of the windshield so you can center the bracket.
