Batteries last about 5 to 6 years. If the battery has been in the vehicle longer than that its time to go.
You can remove the battery from the vehicle and bring it to Sears Auto center and have it load tested. If it fails you need a new battery. Make sure they sell you a battery with the same cold cranking amps (CCA's)
post location and size as the old one. If you check your owner manual it will tell you which battery to purchase. You can also call the dealership and they will gladly tell you the spec's for the battery.

2000 monte Carlo ignition is stuck in off wont turn

How many times must you post the same question? Have you insured you are using the correct key? If so, spray WD-40 or similar into lock, put key in and out several times, wiggle, respray and keep trying. Try turning the steering wheel slightly back and forth as you do this. Good luck, you may have to disassemble if a part inside broke.

2001 Monte carlo...ignition will not turn from "OFF" position.(like wrong key)have had no issues with key in past and have tried spare key already

Good Evening, unfortunately it does happen. They are known for ignition problems, we had one on the lot for 3 months started every day, then one morning it just decided it did not want to turn at all. We took some brake clean and sprayed a little at a time taking the key out and wiping it off every time to get the grub out of it. then sprayed some pb blaster a few times and wiggled as we went and it finally freed the stuck tumblers. Try that and let me know how it goes.

I just put a new ignition in it's a in dash cylinder security light is flashing, and the car will not start

try turning the key on and letting it flash for 15-20 minutes... it should stop and then you can start it. I usually put a battery on a jumper cable so it does not kill yours while doing that. (just a battery you don't need to jump to a running car)

2006 monte carlo key stuck in ignition by tamquinn

Is the steering column locked? If so try jiggling steering wheel back and forth while trying to remove key. It could be the locking pin in the column preventing the key from being turned far enough to be removed.
