Unable to turn key in ignition to start 2003 Honda Pilot .

I am able to insert key into ignition, but unable to turn key to start the car. Feels as if sometime is locked up. I have tried both keys and its the same, so I know the key is not the problem. Car ran fine yesterday.

Your ignition lock cylinder probably fell apart. They get worn out and the tumblers inside fall out and leave the cylinder inoperable. Get your lock cylinder replaced and you'll be good as new.

I have contacted Honda and the NHTSA about the problem with the key and the ignition switch. I am only the 3 person to file a compliant with them. If people and interested in having an investigation done on the problem in order to get a recall on it please contact the NHTSA on line or by phone. Here is some additional info.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is an office within the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). ODI conducts defect investigations and administers safety recalls to support the NHTSA

Sorry but it is more detailed than just turn the wheel. It is a Honda Deffect. The ignition switch has failed and will need to be replaced. $560 for parts and labor, Ouch I know...but ensure the idiots at the dealer do it corretly because next will be the thing wont start up right because of the recoding!!

Whn I try to start my 2003 MC Sonoma, the key won't turn in the ignition, the steering wheel won't turnlockedand unable to move the shift lever out of park?

Sounds as if the ignition cylinder has an internal problem. You may have a sticky wafer inside the cylinder. You can try using some WD 40 and inserting the straw inside the cylinder and giving it a good spray. You can also try gently rocking the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. With out the ignition cylinder turning, the gearshift will not come out of park nor will the steering wheel come unlocked. Hop this helps

My key wont go into ignition of my 2003 Cadillac deville. Are there any solutions to getting the key to go into ignition?

If you are unable to insert the key it might be because the tumbler has been turned past the point of key release it happens a lot with worn ignition tumblers try turning the ignition tumbler forward as if to attempt to start it without the key then try to insert the key if that doesn't work try turning it the opposite direction when you get it inserted you need to replace the tumbler asap if anyone who entends on stealing your car the knowledge that you have reported is enough to raise eyebrows of anyone who has bad ententions! I hope that solves your problem?

Him!..My name is san, and i have 2003 honda pilot and i been having problem with the ignition, first the key wont go in the ignition for like two days and then finally i get the in ignition and now key wont...

Your steering wheel key cylinder is bad. You will need to replace it, but when you replace the key cylinder the Honda Dealer might need to reprogram all your keys to the car again or the car will not start.
good luck

Resetting a Key fob on 2007 Honda Pilot

to program a key fob- get in vehicle and close all doors. insert key into ignition, have all the key fobs you want to program for this vehicle in hand, programing erases all old fobs. turn the ignition switch to on(all dash lights light up, on click before starting the car). then hit the lock button on one of the fobs. turn the ignition to lock. turn the ignition back to run and press the lock button again from the same remote. repeat untill all the locks cycle. ones the locks cycle keep the ignition in run and press the lock button on each key fob(the ocks will cycle each time a button is pressed). then turn the ignition to lock after all fobs have been programed

KEY WONT TURN IGNITION

Your car uses a transonder key, a key with a small chip embedded inside. The transponder is matched to the immobilizer unit in your car. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer searches for that transponder, if it's not near the ignition, the car will just keep turning over and not start. Your only real options are to replace the steering lock or buy a transponder bypass unit, which I do not recommend. Just do a google search.

Dealer cut a new key for Pilot but it won't work

If the key fits mechanically, and the lock turns, then the key has been cut correctly. However if it just won't start the vehicle, then the transponder chip within the key will need programming. The dealer should have the equipment to do this. Do not accept a key that does not start the car - and certainly don't pay unless it does.

Key won't turn on 2003 Hoda Pilot

Sometimes the steering wheel will put pressure on the switch from the steering lock. Try this:
- insert the key that usually works
- with your foot on the brake, make sure the shifter is fully in park
- while turning the key, move the steering wheel left or right firmly
