think you have damaged the heating control computer from the sound of it

i have the same problem the acuator under the dash on the right side of the transmission hump controls the left side temp just disconnect it and it will stay on ac and in the winter plug it up put it on heat and disconnect it and it will save u alot of money and time

Most likly this van has seperate controls for driver and passenger heat and ac controls.If its blowing hot air your heat is working.These controls operate differant dampers that are electonicly controlled.If the dials arent working they would cause this problem.

Are there two separate adjusters for left and right, most of the Mercs had them, so the driver could have a different temp than passenger

the blend doors have broken...you will need to remove the heater/ac box to replace them

I had similar problem on my 2001 Insight. Had to replace some cooling system hoses eaten by rodents... Works like a champ again.
