Pull the plastic shroud off from around the steering column it is held in place with phillip head screws once the cover is off you will be able to see the lock cylinder at the base of the cylinder is a c-clip which needs to be pulled up and off if there is no clip at the base of the switch there will be a metal stud insde a little hole take something small enough to push throuhg the small hole this will release the stud once the stud is loosed you will have to pull outwrd on the switch until it slides out of the column. reverse the process to install. wish you best.

My 1993 Lincoln Mark V111 won't start, won't even make a sound. The lights turn on but car won't.

Make sure the battery is strong enough to take a load, Ignition switch may be at fault, Check the starter wiring to make sure it is tight on the terminals, If you lightly tap on the starter while someone tries to start it, it may tell you the starter is worn out, but do this safely.

My 95 Mark 8 will not start sometimes

I had the same kind of problem with my Lincoln Town Car with after market alarm. Finally we took out the kill switch that was still on the car(after we disconnected the alarm) That was the culprit. I changed batteries, starters, alternators et of a two year period. Never again after market alarms for me. Good Luck Darrell S

Is the theft light flashing while your trying to start it? Try a different key, maybe the theft unit in the key got damaged. Has to be one that came with the car. Also if someone has a code scanner, you will see a code like p1260 theft detected if it can read your key.

I drove my lincoln mrk 8 4 blocks,shut it

Check the Inertia sensor in the trunk. Press 3 seconds to reset.

If not successful try very slight throttle pressure on footpedal. Your throttle position sensor could have gone out and a slightly different position could help.

If that does not help try entering the Security code on the keypad.

Make sure you have fire from the coils. Check with Autozone about ignition relay. May just be ignition switch.

Let us know what is was please.

95 Lincoln Mark 8 won't shutoff.

check the ignition switch and if this be the case it is cheaper to find a salvage yard and have the column same as yours and change the whole thing just take the steering column to a lock smith along with the key and they will rekey it to the new column
