Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

2004 Dodge 2500 diesel loses power while driving.

We have a 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel. The problem is when fuel gets below 1/2 tank, while driving at freeway speeds, the truck will act like it's not getting fuel. Sometimes you can downshift and get the accelerator to respond, and sometimes not and it will stall out while still moving and completely loose all power in the truck. We have replaced the fuel filter and no codes are coming from the pumps. Any ideas what is causing this?

I would remove the tank and check the rubber hose that comes from the fuel pump to the top of the tank/gage mechanism, if there is a crack in the hose it would explain why there isnt much fuel being delivered to the motor, since it will be partly sucking air.

Either your fuel guage is not reading properly and you have less fuel than you think or your fuel pickup nedds to be adjusted sometimes the pickup looses the ability to pull the fuel from a certain level which would indicate that the pick up is going bad or is already bad if you replace just the pickup see if you can get one thats a little longer than the one that you have already so that it can go deeper into the tank. maybe the pickup tube has fallen off also and the pump can only pull the fuel when the tank is full. hope this gives you some ideas as to where to start.

Where is fuel pump fuse and relay on 2002 dodge ram 2500 diesel?

There is a fuse and relay under the hood on the drivers side right above the front tire. Open the fuse access cover and look in your manual to find the fuel pump fuse and relay if it is not listed on the underside of the cover.

2003 CUMMINS STALLS BELOW 1/2 TANK RUNS FINE ABOVE 1/2. REPLACED IN TANK FUEL PUMP MODULE STILL HAVING SAME PROBLEM

Just a suggestions but...

Check fuel filter.

Also add some fuel conditioner (e.g. HEAT for diesel) to get rid of any water that may be in your system.

Were is the fuel pump in a 04 ram 2500 diesel, and how do you know it is bad? I have a 1/2 tank of fuel and the filter resavoir is empty, and I was driving when it stalled stalled on me.

You may have either or, or maybe even both..The first fuel pump, is in the gas tank...and the second one is a fuel injection pump....You have to see if you have power at your fuel pump//in the tank..if you do, and it does not work then that one is bad, you can also bang on the tank with a Rubber Mallot, while someone is cranking it, and if it starts..you know its going bad also...8bd411c.jpgab5b38b.jpg

In my 2002 dodge ram 3500 5.9 l cummings i lose all power and

The first thing to do is to start monitoring the coolant level.
This will rule out the possible of headgasket coolant passage pin hole leak.
Headgasket can go at 170,000 miles+ Less if your truck is doing a lot of hauling.

1999 dodge diesel 2500 seems to have a fuel related problem.

Please clarify the "loosing power" does it lose power and shut down or does it loose power but will idle? Your Cummins is electronically controlled so oil condition is important, fuel leaks, oil leaks, leaks in the air ducting between the turbo and the intake, sensors, water in the fuel. Do you get an engine light when this trouble happens? Dodge uses a lift pump to carry fuel to the the injection pump, is it working?

1995 dodge van falls down when the fuel tank gets to 1/4 of fuel

sounds like a possible pluged fuel filter or a tired fuel pump. the pump is cooled by the gas. so if you work it at 1/4 tank or below it tends to get hot. but towing may make it hot anyway. check fuel pressure and the replace the fuel filter

Lose power while driving

Hi. I had the same problem on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. I went to the dealer and they did a bunch of diagnostics and they replaced my fuel pump. At the same time they put in a retrofit kit that moved the fuel pump to the inside of the gas tank. I have not had the problem since. The cost was about $1,200, but my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty covered it and I had to pay the $100 deductible.
